Hello,

I have got some issues with my pc and would be really greatful if you would be able to help me solve the issues!

The problem i have is that i've been experiencing bluescreens of death alot the last 4-5 days. Every time my pc wakes up from sleep actually. The error i get is Driver_power_state_failure. It really takes long time to shut down, but not as long as to start up. The time for the laptop to start up is around 8 minutes or so, really long. The model i have is an Asus zenbook UX32A by the way and the OS that was preinstalled was windows 8, now it is upgraded to windows 8.1.

The uploaded reports are incomplete. Please rerun the data collection app and let it run for at least 15 minutes (or until the app itself says that it's done). Then zip it up and upload it with your next post.

All the memory dumps blame your Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers - but you have updated this driver, so it's not likely that it's to blame.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

Also, the ASUS Image Toolkit Disk Monitor Driver could also be to blame here. Please either update it, or uninstall it if unable to update it.

Win8 Bluetooth drivers often act up when used in Win8.1. Please update these to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version.

Hello usasma, and thank you for your fast reply, also im sorry that i took so long to reply.

I have read your answer and i have a question about the program SF diagnostics. Should i just press grab all operation or should i do all of them? When go for "grab all" only, it finished really fast, i guess that is why it was incomplete last time, since it only provided the .dump files.

Also, should i upload those files before i update the recommended drivers and or should i update them first, see if the BSOD dissappears and report after if the problem persists?

You should select Grab All and it "should" tell you when it's done.
If it's not working for you, then try Option 2 - that tool is a bit different.

FWIW - I'm looking for 3 things (for starters):
- all minidumps (located in C:\Windows\Minidump) - also in the quote below
- the MSINF32 report (see quote below)
- the systeminfo report (see quote below)

Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "msinfo32 /nfo %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back. Then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

systeminfo:
Please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "systeminfo.exe >%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\systeminfo.txt" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the syteminfo.txt file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back. Then zip up the .txt file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

Update/fix all the things that you can. Any confusion between what's in the reports and what used to be on the system can be easily figured out. Just make sure that you let us know what things that you have done, so we know where to go from there.

Hello sir,

I have been trying to update the drivers you have listed but sadly i have been unsuccessful. Most of them i have not been able to find, tho i noticed that most of them are included in the ATK pack if i am not misstaken. I tried to update the ATK package, but it said that i was not able to run the installation since it was already installed on the pc. Also, the charger driver was only available for windows 7 systems so i skipped that aswell as the image tool that i was not able to find along with the rest of the drivers.

C: drive only has about 10% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

Don't worry about the drivers for now - I've checked these drivers on and off for the past year or so, and they're not often updated.

Then let's wait and see what happens. Should the system BSOD again, please zip up the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump and upload it with your next post. You may have to copy it to your Desktop in order to zip it up.

Hey Usasma,

I have cleared up space on my harddrive and have 100GB + of free space on both c: and d: now, sadly it did not help anything. I tried to put the pc to sleep to see how it would act, first time i tried to wake it up from sleep it just showed a black screen for a long time, after which it restarted itself and asked me to select boot device. After it had started up i tried once again to see what would happen after i woke it up from sleep mode and this time i did get the regular BSOD message.

If i just use the pc it is okay, it works allright. With that i mean it doesnt cause and BSOD generally but the issue is when going into and out of sleep mode, turning the pc off and turning it on. I dont know if this information will be of any use, but i hope we can come to a solution.

Most BSOD's that happen during hibernation/sleep transition are due to:
- chipset drivers
- storage drivers
- video drivers
- other drivers (such as networking and USB) that can act on sleep states

As such, it's likely time for us to get a bit aggressive with the updating. Please visit the Asus website for your system (I believe that this is the link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Driver & Tools - UX32A ) and download/install ALL of the updates on that page (this includes the BIOS updates as some of them appear to point at hibernate/sleep states).

Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Hey!

I have updated the updates i could, some i couldnt because the driver itself didnt install since it said i had a newer version, and some i did not install by choise, since i had to uninstall them before so i decided not to re install them, like asus usb charger and similar utility programs. Sadly, the issue is the same.

Also, i tried to run FurMark and i was not able to detect any issues, as far as i have seen. It ran smoothly and did not really give me any errors, im not sure what it is supposed to do really, ran it for like 13 minutes and the pc had no issues with it. I do not know if i was supposed to do anything more with it.

Ive noticed something after the updates tho, in the device manager. There are now two Unknown devices in it now. I will paste a screenshot which shows this issue. The screenshot shows the device on the top with the yellow marking, Saying that the drivers for this unit is not installed(code 28). I did a search for drivers but it couldnt find anything for it so it remains the same. the second one is for the bluetooth unit, i dont know why it shows as unknown device as the drivers are installed, and when i tried to install drivers from webpage it said i had newer ones installed.

I will also provide dumps for the last crashes. The first one is before i ran the verifier, sleep mode then got the pc into BSOD. The next 2 dumps, when i put pc to sleep and tried to wake it up it just got black screen and after a couple minutes it just restarted, so i didnt manage to get any bluescreen from waking up from sleep but also not a successful wakeup.

which means the driver is making invalid device requests so I would suggest that make sure the cables and all are firm enough.

But, the Driver Verifier enabled DUMP file pointed towards :-

So, please update the above driver as soon as possible. Furthermore, please update the driver found here :- Driver Reference Table - Smb_driver_Intel.sys

Also, till the time we are troubleshooting with your PC, could you please turn off your Bluetooth from the Device Manager (if you are not using bluetooth keyboard/mouse)? As, it appears that some modules of the Bluetooth driver package are also dated in 2012. This is just to remove the possible causes.

Also, did you remove the Aicahrger.sys from your system?

Could you please do one more thing? Check the information tab of the Unknown Devices and see if you could get some clues on what it is?

I have read your reply and sadly i can not find the drivers you are advising me to update.

First one was : Netwew00.sys :- Driver Reference Table
I looked this one up and i saw the webpage for intel on the driver reference page but i couldnt find it manually so i sought for it via the automatic tool, but it only gave me the 32 bit version, not the 64 bit version so my attempts to update this driver failed.

Second one : -Driver Reference Table - Smb_driver_Intel.sys
This one i was able to download, but when i ran the setup it just said the installation failed, and did not really give me any cause so i did not install this driver either sadly.

About the file Aicharger.sys, i have searched for it through my system and it seems like it could not be found so i guess it is removed!

Also, it seems the issue in my previous post is due to my drivers about the USB on my motherboard, it seems it can not find any drivers, and i am apparently really bad at finding drivers on the net so it also remains out of date. I looked at the webpage provided earlier for the model of my laptop at AsusTEKs webpage, but there were none that i could see once again. Is it possible to get some help to find these drivers?

Hey!

How are you doing guys, anything new? I can say that i have solved the issue in the device manager, it appears it was the driver for the card reader that was outdated, also i did inactivate bluetooth. Last night before i slept i thougt i would shut down my pc since it starts in a couple minutes time anyway, but when i wanted to turn it on today it did take its time,, around 10 minutes, then it restarted without entering windows and took an additional 3-4 minutes the second startup.

Hi Craxy and sorry for the late reply,

I was simply not able to figure out the reason for the persistent Intel Rapid Storage driver in the dump files so I asked a friend of mine (Patrick! ) over sysnative forums and what I learned from him was that the Intel Rapid Storage Driver can become awful in a lot of cases. One can only install the Rapid Storage Driver once but cannot remove the driver from the system until and unless you do some restoring to the point before the driver was installed or formatting the whole system. The Uninstaller from the Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel only removes the UI thing and not the drivers which are still loaded.

Intel Rapid Storage driver has no use if you are not using a RAID configuration. The only other option which is left with us is to go ahead and completely disable/remove this driver from the system. Would you please follow these steps given in the link and report back if the problem has been solved or not?
