Hello,

I was playing Path of Exile from Steam for about 10 minutes, the game was kinda laggy when I was attacking enemies and running around, then suddenly my screen turns black and it says that

"Windows driver kernel version.........*cant remember* has stopped working and has successfully recovered"

After that, it went black again for a moment then the BSOD happens, stating VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR.

I think the game was laggy because I use my Intel HD Graphics settings but I can't change it to NVIDIA GeForce 740m under the game settings so I just go ahead and give it a try. But I don't know what cause the BSOD and what it means.

Many, many Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32.
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized. i5 and i7 processors can be "auto-overclocked" by using Intel's TurboBoost feature. If so, it's safe to disregard this caution.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Thanks for the reply. I've attached the Admin.evtx and screenshot of my temps and updates.

I checked Windows Update, it says there are no important updates to be installed but there are 6 optional updates available. Shall I install them? It's attached.

About these drivers that you asked to update :
ASMMAP64.sys
atkwmiacpi64.sys
AiCharger.sys

The links you gave me directed me to the home page and not the download link. Where can I find them?

And about the overclocking, how do I know if my laptop is overclocking or not? How to switch it on/off?

Nothing real significant in the Admin Event Log - the recent Live Kernel events are associated w/BSOD's.

I'd install the first 4 updates - but not the 2 Bing updates
Ensure that you set a System Restore point first.

This is the link to the Asus page for your system (S551LB) and the Windows 8 64 bit drivers: https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/535/0/2/36/ The drivers that you're looking for are most likely in the Utilities section.

ASUS USB Charger Plus is the 5th one down from the top (new driver dated April 17, 2013)
ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities is the 11th one down from the top (drivers are the same date as those on your system)

This (from the memory dumps) says you're overclocking:
Processor may be overclocked!
Expected Frequency: 1800
Actual Frequency: 2394
Overclock Ratio: 1.33
Intel's TurboBoost is the program that does this automatically. I believe that you can disable TurboBoost in the BIOS/UEFI (I wasn't able to find it in the Owner's manual - but didn't have time to search every page).
Here's an article from Intel about it (with FAQ's): Processors — Intel® Turbo Boost Technology frequently asked questions

Current GPU temps look good - but the tool that I suggested will also display the high temp that the device has hit.
