Persistent BSOD problems - 0x00000050 & 0x0000003B

I've had BSODS since last year. The laptop has been for three RMA's with PC Specialist, in the last one they said they did a full rebuild of the system. The BIOS has been updated, RAM replaced, I've done clean reinstalls of Windows in the past.

I had it back for 10 days and then yesterday it crashed again twice. I didn't fiddle with the drivers they had installed, just set Windows to install what it considered essential. I'm using Windows defender - installed the following programs - Premiere Pro, After Effects, VLC, Chrome, Open Office. To elaborate on the issue there is no trigger to the BSODs, they are pretty random, can occur when just browsing online for example. I sometimes go up to around 10 days without issue. The system is also otherwise stable and fast although I annoyingly can't do a system restore because of this error: - "an unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x80070005)". I've been told the most likely fix for this is to turn off antivirus but the problem persists even with Windows Defender turned off.

Can anyone find something abnormal in the dump files and help solve a problem that has been going on for half a year?

Specs are as follows -

It's a Vortex IV laptop with PC Specialist, Windows 8.1, CPU I7-4800MQ, 32GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4600, NVidia GTX 770m

Thanks for any help you can give.

Tried to update wdcsam64.sys but it still BSOD so I have uninstalled it. I have no idea why Secure Boot is turned off, was like that when I received the laptop. Should I get all essential updates or even the optional ones?

I ran driver verifier and then put the dump through WhoCrashed which suggests that nvlddmkm.sys needs updating. Do you agree and where is the best place to download an update? I do have two GPU's, the inbuilt Intel one and the Nvidia one, perhaps they're conflicting?

There is no update available for wdcsam64.sys Although it may work for many systems, there are a few that it persists in crashing on. BSOD's are complicated things, and often it's a relationship between several different drivers that causes problems.

Get ALL updates - essential, important, critical, optional, etc
The only one's to skip (IMO) are those for Bing/Live Essentials - and only skip those if you don't have any Bing/Live Essentials stuff installed.

Please ensure that Driver Verifier is turned off.

Although the memory dumps blame the nVidia driver, there are several possibilities here.
First, obviously, is the driver itself.
Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8.1 compatible version of the nVidia driver from the PC manufacturer's website
- uninstall the current version of the nVidia drivers from the system
- install the freshly downloaded copy
- monitor for further BSOD's

In case this is a hardware problem (should the BSOD's continue), then try these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics (start with the video diagnostics).

Came with the laptop (i7 of some sort)
    Motherboard
Pretty sure that it has one, but haven't checked inside the case!
    Memory
upgraded to 12 gB from 8 gB
    Graphics Card(s)
has switchable - Intel/ATI - Used wrong drivers, now ATI card is inop :( Will have to fix it soon!

    Antivirus
    Windows Defender and Windows Firewall
    Other Info
    I'm handsome and a snappy dresser :0)
Got another BSOD just before I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers. I've now installed the update recommended to me by the manufacturers ( NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 335.23 Driver WHQL) I clicked the express option to retain profiles rather than the clean install.

I've also installed all the Windows updates that seem to be available. Unfortunately the system seems to be a lot more unstable at the moment. Had 3/4 crashes within a 24 hour period.

This one looks to be a hardware problem or a compatibility issue. Get started on the hardware diagnostics from here: Hardware Diagnostics

You can also try Driver Verifier - as it may help identifay an incompatibility. Please follow these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Here's the compressed folder with all the latest dumps. If you suspect a hardware issue then I'm tempted to just go directly to the manufacturer. I pay like £12 insurance on it and it's been for three RMAs and they've done a full rebuild. I feel like I'm entitled to either a replacement or money back if they haven't fixed the issue.

While I can't say for certain that it's hardware, the pattern (actually the lack of a pattern) is highly suggestive of a hardware problem. Running the hardware diagnostics and Driver Verifier should help to nail it down. These latest 3 dumps show 3 different error codes with 3 different causes.

It wouldn't hurt to start talking with the manufacturer about a replacement, but don't be surprised if they want to try and fix it again.
