BSOD KERNEL_INPAGE and WHEA_UNCOLLECTED

Hi folks,

I've been having this issue for quite some time now. I have BSOD's occurring usually of the KERNEL_INPAGE and WHEA_UNCOLLECTED variety. Occasionally I get some other types such as BAD_POOL_HEADER just to keep me on my toes.

Sometimes I will get this error copying files from one drive to another (I have 5 drives connected to this machine), sometimes just playing a game or browsing the internet. I have a feeling that it may be related to file operations but I'm not sure. I have bought a new sata controller to run my ssd from but am still getting the same error. I have another drive which I have also been using as my windows drive but I was getting random crashes sometimes on that as well. I have run Memtest86 in the past, not sure how many passes, 4 I think.

I've attached dumps, logs etc as requested.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  • OS
    Windows 8

Most often it is the original poster (the person with the problem) that actually solves the BSOD.
I have a feeling that it may be related to file operations but I'm not sure.

Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
Start with the hard drive tests first - and test ALL of your hard drives
One bad hard drive can screw up the entire system (to the point where it may not even boot!).
Also, the errors that you see most commonly, are mostly hardware errors - so that's another clue that this may be hardware related.

Just FYI - when we see hardware errors, there's also a chance that it's compatibility or low-level driver functions that cause it.
So, we start with hardware diags, and will move on to other tests if the diags all pass.

Your BIOS dates from 2011. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Only 127 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

You have 5 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

This device has problems in Device Manager:
1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2380&SUBSYS_522D1462&REV_10\4&1A3D4FB3&0&00E5 This device cannot start.
Please uninstall the device, then download/install a fresh set of the latest, Win8 compatible drivers. You may not be able to find a Win8 version for this driver - and your motherboard doesn't support Win8. If that's the case, you may disable it (in the BIOS, not in Device Manager) or you may want to revert back to Win7 in order to ensure compatibility.

Out of 6 memory dumps there were 6 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please uninstall the programs for these drivers (DO NOT manually remove the drivers as it may leave the system unbootable):
