I have been receiving more and more BSOD, from a couple per month to in the latest days multiple per day.

I'm running windows 8.

I mostly get them while playing games.

Thanks in advanced!

Is there any particular reason that you haven't updated to Win8.1 (it's free)? I only ask to see if there have been problems with it. Don't update to it until we've stabilized the system.

Only 133 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

D: drive only has about 6½% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

These devices are disabled in Device Manager. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter ROOT\NET\0000 This device is disabled.
VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter #2 ROOT\NET\0001 This device is disabled.
VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter for VMnet1 ROOT\VMWARE\0000 This device is disabled.
VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter for VMnet8 ROOT\VMWARE\0001 This device is disabled.
While there is no definite link between these and the BSOD's, I've seen enough of them to be suspicious when both Virtual Box and VMWare are present.

I'd suggest uninstalling the programs (Virtual Box and VMWare) to see if that helps (retain the virtual machine files tho' - in case you reinstall the programs later on).

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disk-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.
NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.
Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.
Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hey usasma,

Thanks for the help.

I haven't received the alert that i can update to 8.1. It's also not available in the in the Windows shop.

I updated windows with three new updates.

I removed all the visualization software and daemon tools. I only couldn't execute the second part of the removing. The SPTD for Windows didn't give me an option to uninstall.:

I also couldn't find the service in my regeditor:

Then removed all the ATI video stuff and only install the drivers. I removed the three first outdated drivers/software. And updated the Broadcom Netlink drivers.

Thanks for the help, and i will keep you updated if it now is resolved.

The grayed out "uninstall" option usually means that the SPTD driver isn't installed - which is what we wanted to see.

So, let's wait and see what happens.......

So, it wen't really well for a couple of days without any crashes.. Today I re installed virtualbox, because I need it for work, and immediately get a new BSOD after an hour or so.

So i decided to uninstall it again, but I still got two more BSOD's today. Here are the logs:

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows
You have 2 anti-virus' running, please uninstall the AVG.
If you have MalwareBytes running constantly, please disable it also.
You should only have one antivirus and one firewall running at a time.

If this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings
