BSOD - KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (2 days in a row)

This is the second BSOD I have gotten in the last 2 days. The first one (yesterday) I could not even reboot - the little circling dots froze - so I had to refresh windows, which set me back to 8.0. Luckily most of my installed software (e.g. Eclipse) was still intact. I updated windows with about 98 updates, then upgraded to 8.1 again via the Store.
I then reinstalled a bunch of stuff, including Java and Office.
Today I was working on a word document and when I tried to use the CTRL-mouse scroll button to enlarge the resolution in Word, I got another BSOD with the K_S_C_F.
Luckily this time my machine rebooted - and I am now posting my SF as per the instructions on this forum.
Would love to know how to fix this issue!!
Thanks.

Related to BSOD: what is best way to backup windows 8.1?

On a tangential but related note - in case I get frozen out by the OS again - what is the absolute BEST way to back up windows 8.1? Is there a way I can back up the OS and profile such that even if I have a hard failure at reboot, I can still restore *without* having to Refresh windows like I described in the post above? Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

The best way to backup (IMO) is to copy your Users folder to another device. Then scan the directory structure of the hard drive to ensure that nothing has stored info outside of the Users folder. I haven't seen this in Win8, but always do it at work as a matter of routine. In most cases, when I do find things, it's because the owner has chosen to store it outside of the Users folder.

Then, the best way to backup the entire system is with disk images. But, should the system fail between disk images, you may have to rely on the backup to restore recent data.

A combination of both has been best for most folks, although I prefer just backing up the data and resintalling Windows "clean" if necessary.

On to the analysis................

Only 14 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 56 - 60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

DO NOT uninstall this one, only update it:
ASMMAP64.sys Thu Jul 2 05:13:26 2009 (4A4C7A36)
LENOVO ATK Hotkey ATK0101 ACPI UTILITY (also found in Asus systems)
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=ASMMAP64.sys

DO NOT uninstall this one, only update it:
atkwmiacpi64.sys Tue Sep 6 21:44:52 2011 (4E66CC94)
ATK WMIACPI Utility
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=atkwmiacpi64.sys

It's OK to uninstall this one if no update is available:
AiCharger.sys Thu Sep 22 22:04:40 2011 (4E7BE938)
Asus Charger Driver [br] Likely BSOD cause - haven't seen recently (15Jan2013)
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=AiCharger.sys

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I do not see any updates (there are just 2 and they are both for bing, which I do not use).
I have attached a screen shot of the ones that are installed.
Is there somewhere else (online?) I should look for more windows updates?

I notice this link: Driver Update Site: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P6T
But when I use CPU-Z it says my Motherboard model is G750JW, not P6T.
I cannot get the tool to tell me anything about my motherboard model.

Windows Update numbers are an average. What counts is that you've gone to Windows Update and have verified that there are no more updates. FWIW - this is the second time that I've seen this on Win8.1 - and I suspect that it has something to do with the new 8.1 Update 1 updates.

I have to wonder about the motherboard. The dump files say that you have a G750JW also.
Are you sure that you have a P6T mobo? If so, which exact version? Read it directly from the motherboard - don't use any tools for it.
Has anyone updated the BIOS on this system? If so, when (in relation to the problems that you're having)?
My suggestion would be to update the BIOS on the motherboard to the latest version that matches the printing on the motherboard (for example, I had a P6T Deluxe v1.0 and a P6T Deluxe v2.0 - they each used a different BIOS).

The hope here is that the BIOS update for the G750JW didn't damage the mobo - and that the update for the P6T will be able to fix the problems caused by the G750JW BIOS.

Finally, I had serious problems with my P6T and Win8/8.1 - so much so that I finally just went out and bought a new system. I reverted the P6T system to Win7 and gave it to a friend - where it sits today giving good service.

Uninstall the AI Charger software for now.

If the BSOD's continue, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Well, according to CPU-Z it is not a P6T, but rather G750JW. And like you said, the dumpfiles agree with this. I am not inclined to open up the machine to look, because I am quite sure it is G750JW. Further, this is a brand new machine and no BIOS updates were done as far I am concerned.
So my question is: where does this link come from: Driver Update Site: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P6T
I see it on your website when I click on this: http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=AiCharger.sys
(Assuming that you are John Carrona) - do you know how it is generated?

The Asus G750JW is a large gaming laptop - your profile states that the system is a PC/Desktop - that's how I got confused.

I apologize for the confusion around the link also.
The P6T from the link on my website is just a link to one of the downloads for that particular software (the AICharger)

It is my website, but there's 4 people who have the ability to add to the tables - and many people who submit drivers (along with links for them) for inclusion in the table. I've changed the link to: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download

Again, I apologize for the confusion. :(

Yes, that is right! G750JW laptop from ASUS. And I updated my system specs profile because it was wrong as you correctly pointed out! I will try the new link. So does this new info change any of the above analysis? Thanks again!
