BSOD :: KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECH_FAILURE at the end of reinst

    Hello W8 experts,
I am coming begging for help.

I have just installed a new SSD in a lenovo W500, and at the very end of the reinstallation (clear install) with all drivers and programs and cofigurations done (and of course just before creating a restore point ) I got a unhappy BSOD with KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

I fear/guess it can be due to the Lenovo Power Manager, which as not compatible with windows 7, I installed in compatibility mode (following Lenovo forums indications : Lenovo Power Manager in Windows 8 - Page 3 - Lenovo Community)

Which by the way, I can't uninstall now in safe mode because it say "Warning : Cannot run on this system",

Needless to say, I have search over several forums posts here with the same title, but everything seems unrelated.

I have give a view with BlueScreenView (by Nir Sofer) and in the seven dump files the system have, there is always same red line : ntoskrnl.exe +1597e9

In order to try to solve the problems I have disable several services and programs and uninstall
    disable
    - services :
    --- Lenovo Doze Mode Service
    --- Lenovo PM Service
    --- Power, (svchost.exe -k DcomLaunch)
---- Power Manager DBC Service, by Lenovo
    - startup :
--- hkcmd Module, form Intel Corporation
--- igfxTray Module, form Intel Corporation
    --- PWNTR64V
    --- WMware Tray Process
    removed
    - Battery BAR (a program to show battery tatus on taskbar)
    - Lenovo Power management driver
    - Lenovo Power Manager :: Intent without success :: "Cannot run on this system"

below I have attached the output of the SF diagnose tool

    Is that BSOD solvable?,

how can a "not compatible program" installed with compatibility mode can be uninstalled ?

thanks a lot in advance !!!

    As a start.

Here you can find the lenovo Power management windows 8.1 compatible driver for your lenovo Thinkpad W 500 Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - Notebook.

    Suggestion:

Maybe a new clean reinstall would the best way to go, as you have made changes and removed all kind of stuff from the system as you mentioned above in your post.

Please update these older drivers. Linksare included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable tofind an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for thatdriver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the systemunbootable! :
Note: firstcheck the support/driver downloadsite of your OEM model or system for thelatest windows 8.1 drivers.

And also keep in mind that due tothe age of the system, it's possible that it's not compatible with Windows 8.1- you may have to consider moving back to Windows 8 or even Win7 in order toget acceptable performance.

All this drivers that you mention, I have reinstall in previous restart and worked without problems. Anyhow I will start to unistall them (device manager -> right click -> uninstall driver)

The only things that I removed where the Battery BAR (a program to show battery tatus on taskbar) and the Lenovo Power management driver

All the software plus configurations have take me several days (not intensive, of course), that would be short of nightmare ...

Through the minidups files, isn't possible to see what driver/program cause the BSOD ??

And to remove the Lenovo Power Manager , which was installed with compatibility mode, how could I do it ?

    Thanks a lot !!!

Could you reverse the steps you did to install it in compatibilty mode? And see if it then will uninstall or remove.

Or maybe this will help https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVa...om/td-p/976645

    Thanks a lot lifetec

you help has been definitely helpful

the problem seems to be a conjunction between the graphics and the power management, and this is because this computer has a switchable graphics card that change mode dependly the power status ...

so that explain why, even the graphic driver (W7, of course) was installed several reboots before and worked flawlessly, it runs into BSOD when power management software was installed.

A resolution I have come to (becouse I almost never use laptop on battery and I demand maximun performance)is to disable it in bios (aside os restore drivers and reinstall latest versions)

Config -> Display-> Graphics Device = Discrete Grapics in BIOS (in detriment of Integrated Grapics)
Config -> Display-> OS Detection for Switchable graphics = OFF

so, this seems to assure stability,

finally, I didn't need to uninstall the Lenovo Power Manager, which by the way, works ok in windows 8 (and indeed allows the charge threshold control I was looking for in this soft)

    Not so much to say,
    THANKS ONCE MORE !!

    regards,
