Here's my dump file. I was updating Steam when the BSOD happened.

Thanks.

[DEL]If this was your first BSOD, sometimes these things fix themselves. Ensure that Windows is fully updated and wait to see if it recurs. I'll post an analysis just in case.....[/DEL]There were numerous BSOD's listed in the WER section of MSINFO32 - mostly hardware/low-level driver related types.

Only 10 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 56 - 60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

I noticed that you don't have Secure Boot and/or UEFI enabled. If you were having problems with it and changed it, please let us know.
It's not necessary to enable it now. But, should you reinstall Windows at some point in the future, please enable it first.

I mention this because it may happen that (one day) the system won't boot. This can be caused by a program changing your UEFI settings, or an update of the UEFI resetting it to default values.

To test and see if this is the cause, boot into the UEFI and see if the settings have been changed. If uncertain, try with Secure Boot both on and off (and the UEFI on UEFI or Legacy (CSM))

If it still doesn't boot after trying this, then move on to other troubleshooting tools as it's not likely to be due to this.

You have 3 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol 120% software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disk-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

Hi. First of all thank you for replying.

Here are the things that I've done so far.

Secure Boot is enabled in the BIOS but it says not supported using msinfo32.
The Windows Update which was available was only Microsoft Silverlight. I've installed it then.

Uninstalled Alcohol 120% and used DuplexSecure to remove sptd.sys
Uninstalled the programs that were using the following files listed below.
1. SiLib.sys
2. DSI_SiUSBXp_3_1.sys
3. LGBusEnum.sys
4. LGVirHid.sys
5. TRIXX.sys

The above .sys files are still in my system although the programs were already gone. Do I need to rename those files?

For the ASUSFILTER.sys (Asus USB Hub filter driver), I saw that there's a 3/23/2014 version in my system.
I can't find an update for ICCWDT.sys (Intel(R) Watchdog Timer Driver)
Ran the anti-virus and Malwarebytes.

Ran these too:

Prime95 - 2 hours
Furmark - 30 minutes
Memtest - 8 passes
Sea Tools - the 3 hard drives passed (Short Drive Self Test, Short Generic Test and Long Generic Test)

I remember last time that I was downloading something from Steam when the BSOD happened. I tried to replicate the scenario and I got a BSOD after a few minutes. If I'm not mistaken, these BSODs usually happen when I download something but not in a particular hard drive.

By the way my PSU is SeaSonic G-750 SSR-750RM 750W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified. I got it last February.

Often fixing a BSOD is an involved process that takes several steps. The average BSOD topic that I work on is 2 pages long, with the more difficult going to 4, 5 or even more pages long.

I suspect that this is a compatibility issue, due to the presence of hal.dll on the stack text for the dumps. Also, this latest error (STOP 0x9C) was retired after Vista debuted and was replaced by the STOP 0x124 error.

All that being said, we've still gotta poke around until we find the offending bugger. Please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

BTW - the PSU sounds OK.

Update your Asus AISuite software to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version - that should take care of the Intel Watchdog timer.
It may also update the other Asus utilities. FYI - I found this suggestion here: https://communities.intel.com/thread/24952

If you removed the Sapphire TriXX program prior to this last BSOD, you can manually remove the driver using these instructions:
1) Create a Restore Point using System Restore
2) Create a Repair disc (Recovery Drive in Win8.1):
Win 7 - Go to Start...All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc
Win 8 - Press "WIN" and "R" to open the Run dialog...type "RECDISC" (without the quotes) and press ENTER
Win 8.1 - Go to the Start Screen and type in "recoverydrive" (one word, without the quotes). That will start the recovery drive process. You will need a USB drive of at least 512 mB - and all data will be erased off of it. If copying the recovery partition the drive size will be much, much larger (16 - 32 gB drive required).
3) Test the System Repair disc/Recovery Drive to make sure that you can get to the System Restore entry when you boot from the disk/drive (you may also want to try actually using System Restore to make sure that it works)
4) Download this free program (Autoruns for Windows) and use it to disable any instances of TRIXX.sys that are starting (or any other Sapphire entries) (DO NOT DELETE - only disable by removing the checkmark in the left hand column)
5) Check in Device Manager (to include showing hidden devices from the View menu item) and ensure that any instances of TRIXX.sys (or any other Sapphire entries) are "Uninstalled" (DO NOT DISABLE THESE).
6) Check in the Services applet (services.msc) to be sure any instances of TRIXX.sys or any other Sapphire entries are disabled.
7) Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename the TRIXX.sys driver to TRIXX.BAD (search the hard drive for it if it's not in C:\Windows\System32\drivers).

In the event that the system doesn't boot:

1) Boot from the System Repair disc/Recovery Drive and use the Command Prompt option to rename TRIXX.BAD to TRIXX.sys
Code:
ren C:\Windows\System32\drivers\TRIXX.BAD C:\Windows\System32\drivers\TRIXX.sys
2) Boot from the System Repair disc/Recovery Drive and use the System Restore option to restore the system to a point before the changes were made.

Good luck!

Beyond this, I suspect the USB audio drivers also - so please update them.
Then we'll wait for the results of Driver Verifier and will move on from there.

Hi John.

The Asus AISuite which was previously used was already the latest version but as of now I uninstalled it for isolation.
The Autoruns for Windows was already ran and there were no more instances of Trixx.sys.
The driver using these files, tusbaudio_x64.sys and tusbaudioks_x64.sys was also uninstalled.

As for the Driver Verifier, my system can't create recovery drive. The Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive is greyed out.

I can't move to the Driver Verifier step then that you recommended.

There's conflicting info on the Intel Watchdog Timer from my searches. I'd suggest that we just keep an eye on it for the time being.

A copy of the recovery partition isn't essential in order to create a recovery drive. This is only needed if you want to perform Refresh/Reset from the USB drive (and, if you have a recovery partition). You should still be able to create a recovery drive, and it'll be much smaller (on the order of 512 mB to 2 gB in size).

To check if you have a recovery partition, run diskmgmt.msc and see if you can see one.
If unsure, take a screenshot and post it here for us to have a look at.

The dump blames SiLib.sys - which dates from 2007 and is likely not compatible with Win8/8.1
Please uninstall the program that installed this driver immediately.

I suspect it has something to do with the Garmin ANT wireless USB Stick and it's DSI_SiUSBXp_3_1.sys driver which is equally as old as the SiLib.sys driver

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I got rid of SiLib.sys and DSI_SiUSBXp_3_1.sys by renaming them to *.bak. The Garmin software which was using it was already uninstalled days ago.

As for the Intel Watch Dog, you've suggested previously to update the Asus AI Suite. I'll just keep an eye on it for the mean time if a BSOD will flag it again. I'm currently not using the AI Suite.

Thanks again John. :thumb:

Sorry, I'd forgotten that I'd already mentioned the Intel Watchdog Timer.
The driver is flagged because of the date on it - not because we've seen any problem with it.
So you're right, it's best just to keep an eye on it.

Good luck!
