Hi there,
I just surf facebook and download torrent, then mouse freeze and BSOD, it happened sometime while I was watching online movie. could you please check my dump info. ?
I don't want to install all the updates from microsoft because I have bad experience with automatic update
so if it's possible, please tell me which updates from microsoft can fix my problem.

thanks

  • OS
    window 8
If you choose not to install updates, then you'll continue to have problems.
Microsoft's Windows Updates have solved many more problems than they have caused.
And, if they cause problems, Microsoft works hard to fix those problems immediately.

Also, most problems with Windows Updates is caused by outdated software/drivers on the system (which are incompatible with Windows) - not due to the updates themselves. While older software may run without issue, if it's not compatible it can become unstable when an update does something that it's not compatible with. You may think that it's the update, but actually it's most likely the incompatible software rearing it's ugly head.

That being said, I will analyze the reports that you've submitted and will attempt to provide suggestions to fix this. BUT, the most important suggestion that I will make is to get ALL available Windows Updates. Windows Updates probably solve more BSOD's than any other single suggestion.

You have not installed Win8.1 yet (it's free). Was there a problem doing this? I only ask to see if there was a problem - DO NOT try and install it until the system has been stabilized.

D: drive only has about 5% free space; F: drive only has about 7% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.
NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.
Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.
Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

I also suspect your Norton protection. Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8 compatible version from the Norton website
- uninstall the current version of Norton from your system
- install the freshly downloaded version
- monitor for further BSOD's

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings
