Crash occured Random when not used, was on for 20+ days.

As Title says the BSOD occured while i was NOT at the PC, and it had been on for about 20-30 days without a reboot.

Now this shouldn't really cause a BSOD either way which makes me wonder what the problem is, i can't really get it by looking at the dump file, so here i am hoping that someone have any idea what it can be.

As said above, it was random, i was not there, and i wasn't doing anything special like using hardware etc, it as pretty much having internet browsers on and being at desktop with a media player on but paused.

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

Is there any particular reason that you haven't upgraded to Win8.1? I ask in case you had problems trying. Please don't upgrade to 8.1 while we're troubleshooting as it can introduce more issues and complicate the analysis.

One lone memory dump doesn't often provide enough info for a firm diagnosis. Also, a single memory dump will often fix itself (with Windows Updates). Please ensure that you have all available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get all of them).

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.
Processor may be overclocked!
Expected Frequency: 2800
Actual Frequency: 4013
Overclock Ratio: 1.43321
Test to see if removing the overclock stops the BSOD's. Overclocks may degrade over time - as the hardware ages more rapidly under the additional stress of the overclock.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disk-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings
Also, please run these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

I have not upgraded to 8.1 as it seems to introduce some problems for many, not sure if those are solved yet, but i also prefer not to upgrade Windows i rather reinstall to prevent interference.

as for the Overclock, i can't really clock it back and check the BSOD, as said it has only occurred once, and that was totally random after 20 days of being on, and it hadn't been touched for about 10 hours, so i have no way to reintroduce the BSOD, and i wouldn't like to just clock back and see if an BSOD can occur in some months time.

I really just wanted to know what the memory dump says, meaning what does it point to, what caused the BSOD, a driver, corruption etc?

But if a lone dump isn't enough, then i can't do much about it sadly, as it has only happened once in a very long time, which is why i am surprised and confused.

Microsoft insists that 8.1 is an update - not an upgrade. But you have to wonder why they've changed the version of the kernel from 6.2 to 6.3 (Vista was v6.0; 7 was v6.1; 8 was v6.2; now 8.1 is v6.3).

If you don't want to clock back, then that's your choice. If it were my system and it only happened once a month - I'd let it go (but then again - I'm a lazy old cuss! :0)

The memory dump is a STOP 0x124: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (more info here: BSOD Index - STOP 0x124 )

What this means is that your processor reported an error to Windows.
Most often these are associated with hardware problems, but they can also be due to compatibility or driver issues.

Here's my canned speech about these sort of errors:
They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics
Also, I have caused these errors by improperly/incompletely plugging in a video card (a huge card in a small Dell case).

If you don't want to back off on the overclock, then try the hardware diagnostics that I mentioned in the canned speech.
They may cause BSOD's (as some of them stress the hardware similarly to an overclock). If they do, then that's where to focus your troubleshooting efforts.

Daemon Tools/Alcohol % software can also cause these errors, that's why I suggested removing it.

Good luck!

Ah, guess i should look into upgrading then.

Yes well, i am lazy as well;P
And currently it's not even once a month, it just happened after 20+ days on time (Not sure if the On time matters in this case, but thought it was worth pointing out).

Well from the looks of it, it's quite probable that it's a driver or the OC, but probably a driver or some hickup as it happened when it wasn't in use, OC BSOD happens much more frequently under stress so the chance that it's the cause is probably less then the other.

I can always let it run some OC checks overnight to see if something pops up, as you said OC does degrade over time more or less, hopefully that is the issue (Hate when i can't figure it out so i prefer getting an error so i know the cause), and if so i can cure it somehow.

Daemon Tools is something i need as Windows 8 can't mount some files, else i wouldn't even use it, if there is any alternative i am all ears.

I would check with other overclockers.
BSOD's are actually fairly rare events, so many people are able to use Daemon Tools without BSOD's
Others use Virtual Clone CD

FYI - overclocks can degrade over time. The stress on the hardware causes this, and makes the system less able to handle an overclock (meaning that you'd have to dial the overclock back a bit). I don't think that this is your situation though - so I wouldn't worry about it for now.

Good luck!

Will do, or well will test situations to see if i can reproduce the BSOD, stress test etc, also i did upgrade to Windows 8.1 now just incase as it shouldn't matter when troubleshooting an OC anyway, and the BSOD otherwise will eventually occur or not.

So well, if anything happens i will report back, else i hope it's solved more or less.

Got another BSOD just now, happened when watching a Video, i am pretty sure it said Ati"something", which would mean the GPU, but the memory dump doesn't seem to refer to it.

This is another STOP 0x124 error and is essentially the same as the previous one.

The only clues that we have are the overclock and the Daemon Tools.
I would suggest removing one or both temporarily to see if they affect the BSOD's
