Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

Your BIOS dates from 2009. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Due to the age of the system, it's possible that it's not compatible with Win8.1 - you may have to consider moving back to Win8 or even Win7 in order to get acceptable performance.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=NETwNs32.sys

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

If you can't find it on the Clevo site, send them an email asking about it.

Download and install this program (in compatibility mode for Win7) - then uninstall it (link here: CLEVO Driver Download ):
OTHERSMotorola modem driver for Windows 7 32/64.Moto_W7.zip

If the driver still doesn't go away, we can try to remove it manually - but only if it shows up in future memory dumps.

Thanks a lot:

i did the installation in in windows 7 mode en de-installed. when searching for smserial.sys it stil pops up on the following location:

C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_mdmmotsm.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.16384_none_0f6101d344dd2863

I do not know what this means. but if i try to delete it is not possible.

Don't worry about that copy. It's the copy in C:\Windows\System32\drivers that concerns me.

But the true test is if it shows up in the memory dumps. Let's wait and see what happens.
If you get a BSOD, please zip up and upload the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump (you may have to copy it to your desktop in order to zip it up).

BSOD's are complicated things and there's no definite "fix" for most of them.
It's a matter of fixing all the known problem areas and then waiting to see if it's successful.

As for teenagers - there's no definite "fix" for them either
Wait until they're in their 20's and they know everything better than you!
