Multiple errors and BSOD's during boot and switching wifi

    Hey guys,

I have no idea what can be going on here. I recently updated to win 8.1 after I just got my freshly installed win 8 lenovo ideapad U510 back from the repair depot. The following errors occured that I can remember:

    Kernel Security Check Failure
    Bad Pool Caller
    Driver Corrupted Expool

Most of it seems to occur when turning my wifi on and off, but it's happened plenty of other times right after booting as well. I have attached the diagnostic tool files - thank you so much in advance for any help you can provide

crashed again during a restart - with a new error now = Driver power state failure (sigh)

and again with yet another new error - System Service Exception

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis,so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

All your dumpfiles are network related, ex. probably caused by Ndisnio.sys, Nwifi.sys,, Tcpip.sys, Poolcorruption WDF/NDIS/WIFFI etc..

    Code:
Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.
    BugCheck D1, {40, 2, 0, fffff80000edc8f4}
    Probably caused by : ndis.sys ( ndis!ndisNblTrackerWatchdogTimer+58 )

    BAD_POOL_HEADER (19)
The pool is already corrupt at the time of the current request.
This may or may not be due to the caller.
The internal pool links must be walked to figure out a possible cause of
the problem, and then special pool applied to the suspect tags or the driver
    verifier to a suspect driver.
    Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000021, the data following the pool block being freed is corrupt. Typically this means the consumer (call stack ) has overrun the block.
Arg2: ffffe000085a7000, The pool pointer being freed.
Arg3: 0000000000001090, The number of bytes allocated for the pool block.
Arg4: 000000000000cef4, The corrupted value found following the pool block.

    DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is
caused by drivers that have corrupted the system pool. Run the driver
verifier against any new (or suspect) drivers, and if that doesn't turn up
the culprit, then use gflags to enable special pool.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000090, memory referenced
    Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
    Arg3: 0000000000000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: fffff8012e915ffe, address which referenced memory

    I suspect your Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 is the culprit.
There seams to be a problem with wifi and your Lenovo IdeaPad U510 even on windows 8.
There are some topics on the lenovo community U510 wifi hardware switch - Lenovo Community and Re: U510 Wifi Problems! Anyone can help me? - Lenovo Community.
People are giving all kinds of tips, possible solutions etc. in these threads.

I checked Lenovo and there are no new windows 8.1 drivers on the Lenovo support sites, they point to the inbox drivers who come with the install of windows 8.1.

But when it comes to thirdparty drivers i suggest using drivers from the manufacturers above windows drivers.
I would look for the latest (windows 8.1) drivers for the intel centrino Wireless-N 2230 on the Intel site.
Also i would check all the other networkcards LAN and Bluetooth etc. for the latest drivers on their sites.

Uninstall the old drivers and install manually the new drivers, don't let windows automatically install the drivers.

Please also update these older drivers. Linksare included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable tofind an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for thatdriver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the systemunbootable! :
Note: first check the support/driver downloadsite of your OEM model or system for the latest windows 8.1 drivers.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

It looks like lifetec posted while I was waiting for the memory dumps to run. Please follow their advice.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

Please zip up and upload the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump. You may have to copy it to your Desktop in order to zip it up.

Why is Secure Boot turned off? Did you have a problem with it?

Most of the errors in the WER section of MSINFO32 point to network issues, and most of them point to wifi drivers.
Please ensure that you update your wifi drivers to the latest, Win8.1 compatible versions available (your current wireless drivers date from 2010).

Additionally, your wired networking drivers date from 2009 - so they should also be updated to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version.

    windows 8.1

Thanks for the help guys. Before I got your responses, I installed all the new 8.1 updates that were released yesterday or the day before, ran the reg cleaner in CCleaner, and haven't had any crashing since. As far as safe boot mode not being enabled, wasn't aware, but I did just get this back from Lenovo after the replaced the hdd due to failure. Is there anything you'd recommend I still do (like enable that mode) or something else?

If I don't have any BSOD's in the next day, or two, I will just mark the thread as solved.

    Thanks again

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

Don't worry about Secure Boot for now. Should you decide to reinstall Win8 at sometime in the future, re-enable it in the UEFI at that time. Don't do it before then as the system probably won't be able to boot to the current OS installation.
