BSOD Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

Hi,

I got a few BSODs a week or so ago, ran chkdsk /F /R and sfc /scannow, neither of which did anything. Then Windows updated and the BSODs stopped. They started up again yesterday. My computer's been freezing intermittently while playing games. Windows told me that Intel Rapid Storage has been crashing (and the crashes coincided with the BSODs), so I uninstalled that to no avail.

During the BSOD I get a message telling me I have a Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error, but it doesn't include an error code.

I just got a hard drive replacement three or four weeks ago, so chkdsk was a bit of a crapshoot. Since it's been happening most frequently during gaming, I'd hazard a guess that it's something wrong with my graphics card?

Quick edit: I don't overclock my system, just so we can get that out of the way.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

I only ran the last 9 memory dumps - this is because there's a 2 week gap of no BSOD's from mid to late March.
Should there be further BSOD's, we'll check the earlier ones.

Is there any particular reason that you haven't updated to Win8.1 yet? I ask to see if there have been problems with it.
FWIW - I have a 780Z5E and it was very difficult to update to 8.1

Only 123 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

The BSOD errors are all STOP 0x7A, but each one blames something different. This is typical of a hardware problem (or a low-level driver) - and one of the memory dumps does state that it's a hardware fault. Another shows a status of 0xc0000005 - which is an I/O device error (such as a hard drive). I'd suggest starting with these free diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics If you have trouble with the diagnostics, you can run the Seagate SeaTools for Windows (from within Windows).

I thought I had updated to 8.1 already. Hm. Well, I'm installing it now. The BSODs stopped for a few weeks, but I got another one today, and my system is running a bit sluggishly. If you want, I'll post the dump from that one. Sorry aobut the late reply, but thank you very much for the reply! If the updates don't solve it, I'll take it in to the shop. I'll also probably run chkdsk again.

If it's under warranty, let the shop do hardware diagnostics.
If it's not, then the link to the free hardware diagnostics is here: Hardware Diagnostics

You can run a hard drive test from within Windows - I suggest Seagate SeaTools for Windows. It's free from here: SeaTools for Windows | Seagate

If you can't boot to the MemTest86+ disk, you can use Prime95 to stress test the memory from within Windows. It's in the list of free diagnostics also.
