System Crash, no Memory dump

Hello.

I've had 22 crashes since 3/19/2014 according to the event viewer. All of these have had the generic Event ID 41 for an unexpected shut down. They've been occurring daily, and I can almost guarantee that I'll get a crash within 5 minutes of turning on my computer and logging in. Once that first crash occurs, I can use my computer normally until I shut it down and then it'll happen again the next day.

These crashes usually occur within the first few minutes of logging in after a clean shutdown; however, they have also occurred at random intervals afterwards. I am not always doing anything intensive while it happens.

These crashes show no BSOD. The screens turn black and the power restarts, almost as if the power was cut and then started back up. I unfortunately do not have a spare PSU to determine if that's the root cause.

I've installed no new hardware into my computer recently, and no software at the time when this started. The only notable thing is that I setup a new router: TP-LINK TL-WDR3600.

There are no drivers on the TP-LINK webiste: TL-WDR3600 - Welcome to TP-LINK. I've let windows handle that. Yesterday I did install the USB print controller utility just in case that would help (there is currently no printer attached to the router), but I had a crash this morning.

I've checked my Windows folder for any dump files, and there's a memory.dmp from 11/25/13 (unrelated), and no Minidump folder.

I've attached the SF diagnostic zip.

Thanks in advance for your help. I think it's amazing that you guys volunteer your time for this!

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

For the Event ID 41 errors, Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

You have 4 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

Hey there. I completely understand that you only have so much time to volunteer to this, and I really appreciate the help!

1) Event ID 41
So when I open up the Event Viewer, I get an error that I've attached as images "Eventvwr open error1" and "Eventvwr open error2." I mention this because when I try and save all the events in the custom view I get the error in image "SaveallEvents error" which simply says that the system cannot find the file specified.

I tried just selecting them all and using the "Save Selected Events," but that just gave me an error saying I can only save 256 at once. So I guestimated and saved the most recent ones as the "Admin.evtx" file which is attached.

2) Hardware monitoring
I installed HWMonitor. I actually use SpeedFan to control fan speeds/HW monitoring. I've attached an image of my idle temps ("IdleTemp"} and load temps while running prime95 for about 30 minutes ("p95 LoadTemp"). I think my temperatures are appropriate. Ambient is about 67F.

I do want to mention that I sometimes litecoin mine while using my computer. Load GPU temps are also around 60-65C. I've stopped mining since my first post 4/2, and I haven't had a crash since then. May be a coincidence, I have no idea. In my mind it should be no less taxing than gaming... For funsies I included a screenshot of temps while mining ("MiningTemp").

3) PSU
I do have 4 hard drives, I have an XFX Core Edition 550W (link with some testing: XFX Core Edition 550W Review) PSU which is the same age as nearly every component in my PC. It just hit over a year now. People say it has Seasonic components. Using a KillAWatt meter my PC runs about 120W at idle, 230W with p95, and about 270W when gaming/mining.

4) Daemontools has been uninstalled. The SPTD setup program reports that No SPTD version is detected now.

I haven't spent any time trying to troubleshoot Event Viewer problems, so I can't help with these.
I have seen posts about the Ringtone errors - and most suggest deleting a specific registry key (they say it's a bug in Windows).
Google it if you're interested, but otherwise I'd just leave it alone for now.

From what you've posted, you haven't had any Event ID 41 events since 2 Apr

Event ID 41 is simply Windows' way of saying it doesn't know what happened. BSOD's can cause this, as can power failures, overheating, or even simply holding down the power button to shut off your computer. I didn't seen any indications of a repetitive power problem - although I did see errors that suggest you should check to see if there are updates available for your UEFI/BIOS.

Temps look good.

As for the PSU - I use the number of hard drives as a "cue" to see if there may be power issues.
In the case of a 550 watt PSU, I'd suggest disconnecting a number of non-essential components (some of the hard drives and some fans - at a minimum) in order to see if it changes the frequency of shutdowns for you.
