    DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE causing BSOD

My computer runs into the BSOD on and off. I tried using whocrashed to figure out the cause but didn't get much.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this for me?

    Thanks so much in advance

Hi there Sleepyheadz and welcome to the forum!

I have analyzed your Dump file and it points to the IASTOR.sys as the culprit because the IRP [Input Output Request Packet] packet was held for too long. On further cross checking with your driver list, I found that your Intel AHCI Controller dates back to 2010 which is very old.

Hence, I suggest that you update your Intel Storage drivers immediately by going to this link and downloading the latest package according to your system specs :- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx

Let me know if the issue still persists and yea please make sure you mark this thread as SOLVED once your query has been resolved.

Hi sleepyheadz and welcome to the forum. From the log it appears you recently installed 8.1 or it is a new machine, correct?

A lot of driver failures. Do you have latest BIOS and chip set drivers? Some more specifics about your computer would help. Notice the "My System Specs" pull down in lower left corner of post box.

You may have lots of problems. When I go to the Dell site they only list drivers for 7. You could try clicking the "Analyze System for Updates" button at the top of page.

    Hi blueelvis,

I did upgrade the driver to version 12.9.0.1001 which is from 10/28/2013 . Hopefully this will solve my issues. Will monitor for a few days and close this issue as resolved.

    Thanks again for your recommendation.

Ironically, update drive in Windows and Dell both said that the driver 10.x from 2010 was the latest.

    Cheers,
