Recurring BSODs on new 8.1 64 build

    Please help!

I just put together a new 8.1 system and it seems to randomly BSOD me every few hours. It also has had issues with Windows Update - still not updating KB2919907.

...not sure if they are related.

I've update all the MoBo drivers as well as the BIOS.

    Thanks!

    Hi

What you are experiencing is BSOD 0x124 bugchecks which might be caused by unstable Overclocking. I guess you bought a Core i7 4770k with overclocking in mind but it is necessary to disable OC at least as a test otherwise we won't know whether the issue is caused by OC or not.

    Please follow the below steps.

    1. Disable Driver Verifier.

Enter Verifier /Reset in an elevated command prompt to disable "Driver Verfier". After rebooting, enter Verifier /query to make sure no drivers are actively verified.

    2. Disable OC as a test.

First uninstall Asus AI Suit 3 from the system ( it may auto overclock the CPU ). Then enter BIOS setup and revert any clock speed , ratio and CPU core voltage changes and set them to their original values.

( i guess you know how to revert the OC but in case you don't know, load "Optimized defaults" in BIOS and then post a new "Speccy" snapshot to verify ).

Let me know your findings with next reply.

( let's deal with OC once after the system became stable and usable ).

    Hi

New crash dumps also shows the same BSOD 0x124 bugchecks. CPU is now seems to be running on stock clock speed but there might be some settings which need manual tuning.

    Please try the below steps.

    1. Ai Suit drivers are still active in the system. Please download and run the official cleaning tool to safely uninstall the AI Suit services.

    AI Suite II uninstall cleaner

    2. Enter BIOS setup and make sure CPU core voltage , Bus ratio and other critical options are set to "Auto" detect by the BIOS.

    3. Disconnect and reconnect all peripheral devices and cables inside the cabinet to resolve potential contact problems.

    4. Uninstall "Daemon Tools" and use Windows native ISO mounting functionality.

    5. Make you are using the latest version Logitech KB/Mouse drivers. You can check for updates in Logitech Support - Downloads, Manuals, FAQs & More

I took a look at the motherboard and noticed that there were two switches (EPU and TPU) that were switched on. I turned both of these off and I haven't seen the BSOD in 48 hours. Before, I couldn't go 30 minutes without crashing - so I'm optimistic that this has fixed my issue.

    Thanks, Anshad!

    Hi

EPU is for automatic power management and TPU is for automatic overclocking so it make sense.

    Happy gaming
