    Sporadic BSOD during restart: irql_not_less_or_equal

    BSOD with error code irql_not_less_or_equal occurs during restart.

    No driver updates were installed so I am at a loss.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi

    Almost all of your crash dumps blames a legit Windows component named CLFS.SYS as the reason behind the crashes.

    Code:
    BugCheck A, {8, 2, 0, fffff803d2d120e1}

    Probably caused by : CLFS.SYS ( CLFS! ?? ::NNGAKEGL::`string'+405d )
    CLFS.SYS is a file system related driver so it might a third party file system filter driver which is corrupting it. Please follow the below steps.

    1. Uninstall Acronis True Image.

    Uninstall Acronis at least as a test. It's file system filter drivers can interfere with Windows drivers.

    2.
    Uninstall SPTD.

    SPTD
    is installed by ISO mounting softwares like Daemon Tools , Alchohole 120% etc. This is a known problematic driver so please uninstall SPTD by downloading and running the uninstaller from the below link.

    http://www.duplexsecure.com/download...t-v186-x64.exe

    Run the tool and press the "Uninstall" button to remove the driver.

    "Windows 8" doesn't need a third party app to mount ISO files. You can simply mount an ISO by right clicking on it.

    If the BSOD continues, please upload a new diagnostic report with next reply.

    Thanks for the info.

    I have been considering ditching Acronis for other reasons so this could be the clincher.
    Since Seagate Disk Wizard has a basic version of Acronis backup would you recommend dropping that too?

    Can I uninstall SPTD without affecting the other functions of Alcohol 120?

    Yes, all Acronis components should be removed.

    I am not sure whether all the functions work but you should remove SPTD for a stable system. Let us check how the system works without SPTD and Acronis filter drivers.

    I can live without the virtual drive feature but since Windows Backup falls short of my requirements I will need to keep Acronis.
    In addition I've noticed that my version of SPTD is out of date. That may be significant.
    I will try running without SPTD but will retain Acronis.
    No point in pulling too many wires.
