BSOD on startup/playing games. Inconsistent, but common.

    Hey guys,

Been trying to deal with a BSOD problem that resulted from KERNEL_CHECK_SECURITY_FAILURE (or something along those lines). I did some research and got it could be the RAM, HDD, or Drivers.

Scanning the RAM for 16 hours gave me two errors on test 10, passes 1 & 9. Testing the sticks individually found nothing, testing both slots found nothing. I can only assume those were false positives.

Next, I tried driver verifier. Boom. Instant crashes. Now, disabling it, I have the minidump file. Can someone tell me which driver is causing this problem? Thanks!

    They're not false.

In addition, update or uninstall and remove hardware:

    Code:
    0: kd> lmvm NADUSBAudio_x64
    start end module name

Why is it that I couldn't replicate them when trying to search for them individually then? I ran it for up to 10 passes on each one, just to make sure.

So it appears my problems are being caused by my NAD USB Audio Driver? Huh, strange. I'll try updating and if not, I'll just remove it. It's for my USB DAC.

Sometimes faulty RAM never shows errors at all. In a way, you can consider it lucky that it did actually show errors. You should check timings and frequency to make sure they're correct for the modules (change bios settings if not), and if there is a mismatch with using different ones, alleviate that (take RAM out permanently.)

Yeah, the timings and etc are fine, and there's no mismatch.

Guess I'll be grabbing some new RAM soon then, too. As for that USB Audio driver, well, it is the latest version, so I guess I'll report it causing BSODs to NAD and remove it for now.

Well, smart thing to do is remove the hardware and driver/software. If the machine stays stable, then count your lucky stars but if it doesn't, then contact RAM company and tell them you want new modules to replace the ones you have now.
