Since 8.1 repeated BSOD computer unattended, mostly Kernel

but also got critical..

I ran MS' memory diagnostic, because couldn't get Memtest to work on stick drive.

First time, there was an error on the screen but it disappeared before I could read it..

Second time it said no problem.

I did go in and change the settings for the small screen dump but noticed the SF Diagnostic program said no dump file but searching. I don't see any mini dump folder in Windows.

However, I believe there are problems, a while back I read files were missing, but just today managed to download an 8.1 iso, still have to burn it to DVD/stick so I can repair install, or equivalent thereof. Hard for me to remember new names for things at age 71.

And, for example, my wired mouse used to work but doesn't now.

If I haven't done something correctly, I apologize, I have been feeling very shaky, already have a lot of fatigue due to medical problems and now found I am prediabetic so also researching how to eat

Hi,

Set bios to Optimized Defaults, then save.

Uninstall AVG, use the removal tool for it after, then set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall to Automatic and start them too, using services.msc.

Uninstall Rapport.

If the memory is not defective, then the above will stabilize your system perfectly. (Uninstall VPN4All and ioBit Advanced System Care if you have any further issues, though.) Reallllllly should uninstall IOBit anyway.

If you see your mouse here, install the driver for it:

I have no idea how to optomize my bios. I have been in the bios and never saw anything like that. Do you mean reset to default? Please advise.

I only got the IOBit because of the free RAM portion, maybe I can find it in their Toolbox.
I paid a year in advance for VPN4All. It lets me download the 8.1 ISO, when it wasn't running, I got the report that the file wasn't offered in my country. It also lets me watch US TV. Is it this particular VPN? I have been looking around for another, easy to install, and fairly cheap.

I will get rid of Rapport, AVG, use the removal tool for it after, then set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall to Automatic and start them too, using services.msc. No, I didn't see my mouse.

Thank you for answering me so promptly. I have been looking for a burner and imaging software, to put the 8.1 ISO on file, so didn't get back to you too quickly.

Many thanks!

Snake oil that does far more harm than good. Windows does not need or require any type of memory management help and anything changing what it does is a step backwards. You have RAM so it can be used and not sit there empty doing nothing.

You're welcome.

Next steps I took

You said :
Set bios to Optimized Defaults, then save. I still don't know how to do that, so I haven't yet

Uninstall AVG, use the removal tool for it after. I did, but still had to go into the registry and delete everything with AVG in it, thank you AT&T techs who removed Avast Free and put on AVG Free 2014
then set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall to Automatic and start them too, using services.msc. I did.

Uninstall Rapport. Hard to do as it wasn't in Programs or Programs (x86) found it under my User name, also checked in registry.
If the memory is not defective, then the above will stabilize your system perfectly. (Uninstall VPN4All) I kept my VPN, when it wasn't running I couldn't download Windows 8.1, said it wasn't available in my country (and ioBit Advanced System Care if you have any further issues, though.) Reallllllly should uninstall IOBit anyway. I uninstalled IOBit System Care, keeping the RAM file, hadn't read you follow up note, didn't get a notification.

If you see your mouse here, install the driver for it:

Software Downloads | Microsoft Hardware Mouse driver not there.

Then I did a repair install of Win 8.1 I got another BSOD saying critical something or another.

Again, I had set it up for a mini dump, but the SF Diagnostic said none found. There were a lot or warnings in Event Manger, so glad it is in that zip file.

I ran a hardware test by Western Digital, which came out fine. Memtest when opened on my thumb drive give an error, ran Kapersky and could not to the their detailed list but no malware anyhow, also ran Malwarebytes AntiMalware, which was fine.

I have no idea where the LocaleMetaData folder came from, but am including it.

I see the attachments I tried to upload to here below, hope they show up when I submit this.

It is very odd, but under my user name, which, incorrectly, is Ana, there is no Apps file, which I remember being there in the past. I also ran sfc /scandisk and disk check, which reported all as as being well.
