    BSOD on Windows 8.1

Greetings, I have the famous blue screen of death for the first time. I am using windows 8.1. Every time I try to boot into my rig, it says that:"windows has encountered some problems and need to restart". I am using another computer to write this message but most of all I have absolutely no clue how to resolve the issue. Restore Points were turned off in the rig to save space - Not my idea but it is what it is I have no back up - Please no judgment here I am blonde So, I am starting my rig and as soon as I get to the log in screen, the unit restart to a blue screen. I have a couple of options but most of them can't since I have no back up and no restore point. Please help as I have my life on this rig PS: When the rig restarts, I land on a blue page with 1 continue 2 troubleshoot 3 turn off your PC I choose 2 (because of tools). Then I have: 1 Refresh you PC: I need the refresh more than my PC 2 Reset your PC. It says if you want to remove all your files. Definitely not what I want to do. 3 Advanced options I choose 3 and then I get: 1 System Restore: No restore point so useless 2 System Image Recovery: No backup so useless 3 Start Up Repair: Tried that but no go 4 Command prompt: Tried that but I have no clue on how to move forward once on command prompt. 5 Start Up Behavior I picked that one and went option 1 to 4. 4 being the option that allowed to log into the unit in safe mode. Once I am in Safe Mode what should I be doing ? Kind Regards,

Hey, Blondie. (I seriously hope you're female, with me calling you that and all lol.)

Are you able to put the hard drive into your currently working machine? We will be able to fix it easily, if so.

Blonde as It gets What do you mean by hard drive ? I have successfully booted into the rig but in safe mode. I am trying to pull some logs (not so blonde after all) out of the unit and send the logs to you guys to see if you can make any sense out of them. I hope this is the way to go about it ?

    Awesome, yes.

You can boot to safe mode + networking, then run the tool in this thread, then attach results here.

I have been trying to upload the file .evtx from a USB key but is says invalid file. Unfortunately since I am not using my rig I am very limited to what I can and cannot do. Downloading the file you kindly offered is not an option. So I have the logs but can't upload. Is there any ways around it ?

That file is not going to be helpful at all.

What you can do is boot to safe mode. Take Ownership of C:\Windows\Minidump then do the same for the latest 3 files inside. Copy those 3 files to USB, bring them to another machine, zip or rar them, then attach here.

Alternatively, you can download the log collection tool from your good machine and put it on USB, then attach USB to broken machine and run it.

    I compressed it (zip).

Is it normal not to have 'C:\Windows\Minidump'.
If I go to C: then Windows, I cannot find Minidump.

I have managed to grab the SF diagnostic tool and trying to run it on my rig with the issue but it is stuck. I clicked on 'grab all' and the unit has frozen completely.

    That's unfortunate all around.

Best to go into bios then set it to Optimized Defaults, then save, and try your luck again.

It makes it much more difficult to fix without minidumps, but if I get a list of drivers, there still is good hope.
