    BSOD - DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION - Windows 8.1

    Hello all,

I was hoping I might be able to receive some assistance from somebody my technically-minded than me.

I've recently had three crash dumps occur, causing a BSOD.

I've researched the web to find out what might have caused the issue and have used the following program to discover that the issue concerns a:

    WhoCrashed

    WhoCrashed found the following:

    - ntoskrnl.exe (I understand this relates to NT Kernel - I'm not sure what that is.)
    - athw8x.sys (This relates to a Qualcomm Atheros Extensible Wireless LAN device driver, but I'm unsure how to update it)

Two dumps point towards to ntoskrnl.exe file, and the one involves the athw8x.sys file.

    Hi,

Uninstall AVG, use the removal tool for it after, set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall to Automatic and start them too.

Install latest Realtek HD Audio codec driver from their site.

Can you explain step-by-step what I'll need to do?

Why might AVG be causing the problem, and how did you know I was using AVG?
