Hi guys, yesterday when I watched one of my favourite movies with Pot Player I got the BSOD and my computer automatically rebooted itself. I followed the procedure by making .zip file with SF_Diagnostic_Tool.exe and I uploaded the .zip in my thread. I`ll be very thankful if someone can analyze my problem and give me some directions about what my errors are and if there is some hardware malfunction or if there is some driver compatibility issue. By the way this forum is great and you guys are great for helping people and doing good

) Best regards!!
P.S -> I`ll be watching the thread for new post and please if there is anything you want to ask me just ask I`ll try to do my best by giving you the correct information about the BSOD problem

Hi

The only crash dump in the diagnostic report seems to blame a Windows system file named Win32k.sys as the reason behind the crashes. Since Win32k.sys is the low level Windows driver which interacts with display, probably display driver will be the culprit. So i would suggest updating video driver and check whether the BSOD stops.

But your laptop seems to be a Legacy model which is not certified for Windows 8. Sony seems to list only XP , Vista and 7 drivers. Compatibility might be an issue here.

Sony : VGN-FW21E updates | Download updates for VGN-FW21E

We can try installing generic driver from AMD. Please download and install version 13.4 beta driver from the official AMD support site which might support your video card.

Legacy

Let me know whether it helps.

In addition to above,

Overclocking.

Please attach a screenshot of CPU-Z 1st tab, one of Memory tab and one each for each stick of RAM of SPD tab.

If it is not that, then these modem drivers need to be uninstalled regardless and modem turned off in bios or disabled in Device Manager:

VSTAZL6 VSTAZL6.SYS Wed Oct 15 20:53:42 2008 (48F69096)
VSTCNXT6 VSTCNXT6.SYS Wed Oct 15 20:52:22 2008 (48F69046)
VSTDPV6 VSTDPV6.SYS Wed Oct 15 20:57:45 2008 (48F69189)

OR - You can likely find latest Conexant modem drivers from CNET or many similar websites. You can install for any model of laptop you find, whatsoever. Try to find 2012 or newer drivers if you want to keep this enabled.

This driver is no good for Windows 8 - update or disable in Device Manager:

This should be a direct link to the 5100 AGN driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23493

Ok, I have to walk a fine line here since the rules of the site dictate what I can and can't say, and for the most part, I agree with the rules for a site of this nature. Read between the lines of what I say if you must.

C:\Windows\KMS

Delete that folder and contents.

Open Regedit. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Delete the subkey there for Windivert.sys

Reboot.

I did not deinstall the KMS activator because this time I wanted nothing more than a clean instalation with license key aktivation. That is why I made full format and clean instalation but again there are serveral crashes.. I mean the screen freezes and the only way to reboot the machine is like holding for 4 sevonds the power on/off button. I`m uploading the .zip made by SF_Diagnostic_Tool and I`ll be very glad if you can give me some goot tips and advices about this time`s crashes :) Best regards to all ;))

I did update my Ati driver from the amd`s official web site but from there on there is no new driver updates available that is whay I havent made any update since my last crash because I`ve already updated it and then I still got the crash which I uploaded in my last post. So I updated my Wi-Fi driver like you`ve said "Update: NETwNs64 NETwNs64.sys Thu Oct 06 10:45:03 2011 (4E8DBEEF)" because I found that NETwNs64 means that this file is related to my wi-fi udapter so I downloaded the new wireless driver form intel`s web site for win8.1 x64 and indeed there was a new driver version for my wi-fi adapter. Than like you`ve told me I disabled my modem so I hope after those changes I would not get any bsod in futere but will see. Thanks a lot my friend in advanced and be well ;) Best Regards.

P.S: I uploaded the screenshots of my drivers versions after I updated them. For your info my video card is Ati Mobility Radeon HD 3470 and my wifi is Intel 5100 Agn, my sony vaio model is FW21E if you want to check ofcourse if there is something new about the drivers ;)

Cool. Looks good for now. You're welcome.

If you really want to try to get the modem working again, you can likely Google for Conexant drivers. If you find something for any model of laptop, it will likely install well, but just make sure the drivers are from 2012 or newer.

Best of luck with continued success.

Again my laptop`s screen was frozen when I got from work I`ve found it that way.. and again I had to shut it down through the on/off switch of the laptop. And now when I tryed to export the files needed for BSOD diagnose through SF_Diagnostic_Tool I got no success because the dmp file is with earlyer date "022314-36218-01.dmp" so I supposed that the reason for the frozen screen is not connected with BSOD and somehow is not detected from the system like one and I alos suppose that there is no need to upload it now because the archive in my earlier post are with tha same bsod files uploaded. If you have any other suggestion my friend I`m here to listen/read but in first place I want to inform you that this problem is not connected with RAM failures because I`ve already tested the ram and there was no bad sector found ot any kind of failure. Maybe the key to the tent is realy in the search of more compitable driver for the graphics adapter (hd 3470). If you can suggest me maybe some benchmark to test the graphics or the hardware (meybe something like 3D mark, PC Mark) so to be sure that none of my hardware is broken or failed. By the way I tried Windows 7 Ultimate x64 for a week and there was zero BSOD with that Operation system that is why my opinion is that the main problem is connected somehow with the driver incompatibility regarding the Win 8.1 OS. Also in sony`s official site there is drivers for Win7 and none for Win8.1 :(

2010 is likely still too old - BUT - you might be fine with it.

I suggest to keep it disabled then reboot for the time being, until you are certain the machine is stable.

Then you can re-enable so you know for sure if it caused something or not.

If you're bored sometime, go on a hunt. I'm fairly sure you can get newer somehow.
