BSOD at random times - DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Hi,

I've been having random freezes on my pc for the last few weeks. It seems to happen when I'm using multiple applications or a few internet windows. Everything freezes including the mouse and keyboard and I'm stuck staring at whatever it was I was just doing until I manually reboot. I'm not sure if this can be classed as a bsod as I get no blue screen, maybe I just need to wait longer for it to appear.

Anyway I actually did get a bsod after one such freeze and managed to get a dmp this time. Any idea what's causing it as I only got my pc a few months ago and I wasn't happening at first.

Thanks

Hey,

Uninstall Avast. Set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall to Automatic and start them too.

Update the above driver. If there is no update, remove hardware from the system.

If it were my machine, I'd remove Hotspot Shield too.

Hi,

I've unplugged the dbtv usb device that was related to AF15BDA.sys. It was old and I have already tried to get new drivers. If this is at fault I'll happily replace with a new one.

I've uninstalled hotspot and avast. I don't usually touch defender or the firewall much. I thought the firewall was already running tbh. I've updated and started the defender though so I hope they're both active now. Wouldn't I get a security alert from Windows if they weren't?

Do I just see if I get any more freezes or bsod now, or do you need any more logs of anything?
