Ive been getting multiple BSODs. I really need help with this. I have a lot of school work to do all the time and it'll just randomly BSOD out of the blue. Its getting really frustrating. Any help would be appreciated greatly appreciated. Ive run multiple mem tests and hard drive tests with nothing to report.

Networking.

Highly advise to remove AVG with the tool they offer to do so, then set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Auto and start them too.

Uninstall or update all Gigabyte software. This driver sorely needs an update:

Code:
7: kd> lmvm gdrv
start end module name
fffff880`1c341000 fffff880`1c34a000 gdrv (deferred)
    Image path: \??\C:\Windows\gdrv.sys
    Image name: gdrv.sys

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

Likely to Energy Saver, Easy Tune or similar.

Delete this driver:

Code:
7: kd> lmvm ElgatoGC658
start end module name
fffff880`0741f000 fffff880`0742e000 ElgatoGC658 (deferred)
    Image path: \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\ElgatoGC658.sys

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

Then find (you might have to look at little if it's named differently there) the key for it at the following location and delete it, in Regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Do the same for this driver; delete + regedit key delete:

Code:
kd> lmvm PxHlpa64
start end module name

Update SuperAntiSpyware to latest.

For good measure, update your Realtek lan driver from Gigabyte's website too, or from here.

Code:
7: kd> lmvm Rt630x64

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

And finally, update wireless driver from here or manufacturer's page:

Code:
0: kd> lmvm netr28x
start end module name

Some things not done yet.

In latest crash dump, each of these 3 likely problem-causing variables still exist:

ElgatoGC658 ElgatoGC658.sys Wed Nov 09 02:39:12 2011 (4EBA2E20)
PxHlpa64 PxHlpa64.sys Tue Jun 23 19:16:35 2009 (4A416253)
gdrv gdrv.sys Thu Mar 12 23:22:29 2009 (49B9D175)

Good job updating others.

Please explain any issues you might be running into with removing or updating. I'll see what I can do for ya then, based on your response.

You're welcome.

Okay, so I think I got ElgatoGC658.sys and PxHlpa64.sys both not showing up in my folders nor Regedit. As for gdrv.sys I am unable to find an update for it after extensive searching. Any ideas?

Yes about ideas.

The single one I have at the moment is to ask these questions.

1) Is your DVD/CD drive working? (I suspect no, but that's fine!)

2) Any crashes now? (We will wait to see - if so - then we will deal with gdrv.sys.)

Excellent. Here's how to fix the DVD drive. Let me know if anything is not understood. It's much more simple than it appears at first glance. (it's instructions for 7 - you just have to adapt it for 8 - like use Start screen instead of Start menu etc...)

  1. Click Start
    VistaStartButton.jpg

, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.

    SecurityShield.jpg

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  3. If you see UpperFilters in the pane on the right side, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
  4. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
  5. If you see LowerFilters in the pane on the right side, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
  6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
  7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

I got another BSOD. Im pretty sure it was the elgato driver because I looked and it somehow was there again. Im almost positive it is gone now, but it also could of been the gdrv.sys I couldnt find an update for. I'll post the dump file again. If its the Elgato Driver then its fine.

Edit: And I just got another one..

Rename this file to .bak:

Then open Regedit. Find its subkey and delete it (you might have to look a bit if named differently, for that driver inside one of them) at

Do the exact same 2 deletions (file, regedit) for each of these:

Uninstall Speedfan (you can reinstall after we're done fixing for 100% sure).

Download the AVG removal tool from their site, for the product you had. Reboot to safe mode and use it (normal mode ok I guess, if you must).

Then open Regedit. Find its subkey and delete it (you might have to look a bit if named differently, for that driver inside one of them) at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Uninstall Speedfan (you can reinstall after we're done fixing for 100% sure).

Download the AVG removal tool from their site, for the product you had. Reboot to safe mode and use it (normal mode ok I guess, if you must).

Update SuperAntiSpyware to latest:

Code:
SASDIFSV64 SASDIFSV64.SYS Thu Jul 21 19:03:00 2011 (4E28B024)
SASKUTIL64 SASKUTIL64.SYS Tue Jul 12 17:00:01 2011 (4E1CB5D1)

I can't do those things right now as I'm not at home but I thought I'd let you know I attempted to remove gdrv.sys before. It just comes back on reboot

For gdrv.sys -

Make a text file and save it under any name. Rename it to gdrv.sys, then copy it directly over the one at C:\Windows\gdrv.sys

Use Unlocker software to unlock it first, if needed, but probably not.

Set the permission on it so that your account or no other account has write access to it.

Reboot and see if the file is still 0 kb. If so, good.

---OR---

if you can update Gigabyte Easy Saver software, do that instead and see if it updates that driver. If not, do as above still.

Okay, ive done what you asked. The BSODs are a lot less frequent now but I got one not too long ago. Here is the dump file. If I missed something you told me to do let me know.

Edit: Ran Driver Verifier and literally BSOD before I could even see my home screen. Heres the dump files. In the first Dump file the grdv.sys file was a text file with 0kb like you said in the 2nd dump files it was back to normal as I was trying to update it.

SuperAntiSpyware has not been updated.

I'd suggest to uninstall that completely until issues resolve.

I just noticed something. Razer drivers are amongst the most notorious ones there are.

I would detach the mouse or keyboard (whatever it is you have from them) and use a generic device instead, to test.

Code:
rzudd rzudd.sys Fri Sep 13 01:46:30 2013 (5232A6B6)

Uninstalled SuperAntiSpyware, will test the the other theory later today when I get home.

Any other things you notice that are of significance?

EDIT: Still got a BSOD... Any other ideas??

Also "Probably caused by : dxgmms1.sys ( dxgmms1+205a1 )" GPU driver problem?

In latest crash dumps rzudd.sys was still present.

If you really did test with another device instead, then just keeping so, but uninstall Razer software too and reboot.
