Solved Frequent BSOD when using webpage with FLASH games

My daughter plays on Friv, a website with hundreds of games, most of them are FLASH based.

It frequently creates BSOD on my Win 8.1 desktop computer

I'm tried to use Google Chrome and the result is the same.

When I look with BlueScreenViewer, I can see it is always the exact same error.

It happened in in Win 8, Win 8.1 Beta, and now Win 8.1
Each time the OS was fully installed from scratch.

Any help would be very appreciated.

I have the latest BIOS from ASUS as well as all latest drivers I could find.

Hi PaulP514,

I have reviewed the log files and I see two things that may be the cause for the blue screens.

First, your system appears to be a very high end custom built machine. I'll need to know the model number for the motherboard as it is not provided by the log files. The Asmedia 106x SATA controller looks to be conflicting with others components which might cause blue screens. If you can get me the model number for the motherboard I will check on any possible updated drivers.

Next, I can see many errors from Windows Search Service.

To fix this: press :winkey: + S > type Windows Search > click Find and fix problems with Windows Search > click Advanced > Run as Administrator.

After it has completed post the results.

Hello etcech,

Thanks for taking the time to look into this!

regarding the "Asmedia 106x SATA controller" it is my mistake, while troubleshooting I had remove the driver

I attached a new dump.

the motherboard is an Asus P9X79 Deluxe
Bios 4603 released on 11/11/2013

The Windows Troubleshooter did not help at all.

Any other hints would be great.

Good, now that the driver is gone you should test the system to see how it performs.

Do this: Press :winkey: + R > Type eventvwr.msc > click Ok > Double click Windows Logs > Right click Application > Click Clear Log... Do the same for System

Please Download the attached file..

Right Click > Select Run as Administrator

It will create a file called Search.txt on the Desktop. Attach it to your next post.

There you go!

See the attachment.

BTW, using Driver Agent, I updated a few drivers including the Intel Chipset

So maybe this will help.

All settings reported in Search.txt look ok.

Download & run the attachment as Administrator..

This will create a file called Fix.txt on the Desktop, Please attach it to your next post.

I ran it again with a different result.

The first time it took a while, the second time it was almost instant.

I did some test and after playing for about 10 minutes with flash games, I got the same BSOD again.
So all drivers updates did not help.

BTW I did a Memtest and after 24 hours running, there was no error.

Running out of options...

The log shows everything ran Ok.

Next, let's deal with Flash. Please close ALL OPEN PROGRAMS.

1) Download & Run This: - Flash Uninstall Tool http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe

2) Press :winkey: + X > Select Command Prompt (Admin) >
Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth > Once it completes Reboot.

3) Press :winkey: + X > Select Command Prompt (Admin) > Type SFC /SCANNOW > Once it completes Reboot.

4) Press :winkey: + X > Select Command Prompt (Admin) > Type CHKDSK /R > Press Y to run on startup > Reboot

**CHKDSK can take several hours to run depending on the size of the drive. Allow it to run UNINTERRUPTED.**

5) Download & Run Windows Update.bat, attach the files to your next post.

**This will create a folder called Logs on the Desktop**

**Internet Explorer & Chrome both come with Flash Player installed, You should not need to install anything.**

**Let me know how your computer is doing.**

All done.

Earlier today I got two crashes while workin in Adobee Lightroom.
On the first occasion, Internet Explorer was open as well in a flash page.
but on the second crash, only Adobee Lightroom was ope.
I never had issue before in Lightroom.

So I don't think that Flash is the guilty now... but maybe something related to the graphic card. Firepro V7900
Just a wild guess

See the attach you requested.

Thanks again for this help.

The DISM log shows some interesting results. It appears to be filled with Chinese characters. Since I don't speak or understand Chinese I used Google Translate in an attempt to read it. The contents don't seem related to what should be in the log. I am seeking advice from a senior member of what to do.

Do you use any Chinese language packs?

Almost every time I've ever seen Chinese symbols on a system it was because of malware.

I will post back when I know more.

Thanks!

I noticed these too, but I was not sure what this was all about.

Using Google Translate, I was able to see some words.
Scary isn't' it?

I have Malwarebyte running on this system. What other tools do you recommend to search for malware?

Besides Malwarebytes I would only recommend two.

1) AwdCleaner - This tool removes toolbars, browser hijackers, etc.

Link: AdwCleaner Download

2) Junkware Removal Tool - This one does essentially the same.

You might need to run others. But really it's best if you go to a forum trained on how to deal with malware. Some tools can alter your system unbootable.

Thanks,

This data you extracted with DSIM, where is it located?

BTW, ran the same DISM command on my Surface Pro 2 and no Chinese characters.

OK here goes..

1) Disconnect all external USB devices. (except mouse, keyboard)

2) Stop the following Services.. Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service & Windows Search > Set the startup type to Disabled for both.

3) Do you have the system overclocked?? If not, I suggest removing all programs from Asus. With the exception of any Asus system recovery programs.

4) Use Revo Uninstaller to remove Microsoft Security Essentials.

**During uninstallation select the Advanced option to completely remove the program.

Link: Download Revo Uninstaller - MajorGeeks

5) Open Windows Update from the Control Panel > select Change Settings > put a check mark for Microsoft Updates & Recommended Updates > select OK.

**Select Check for Updates > Install any updates found.

6) Download & Install Avast!

Link: Download Avast! Free Antivirus 9.0.2011 - FileHippo.com

**Perform a Full system scan.

7) Wait a few hours for the system to settle.

8) Attach a new SF diagnostic logs.

I will check back tomorrow. Good Luck!!

Sorry for the late reply.

I've done the full system scan and no viruses found.

Lately the system has been stable. but I have seen this in the past... I can be a few weeks without any issues and then for a few days I get frequent crashes.

The Chinese character things is still there and puzzle me.
I guess my next attempt is to reinstall the OS but first do a low level format on the SSD. if there's such thing on SSD drive.

unless you have another idea.
