BSOD on Windows 8.1 64 bit (system_service_exception and k

Hi,

I have been having strange issues recently. Since september or so I have had 4 BSODs when using Windows Media Center Live TV, I thought it was related somehow to the tunner, but today I also got BSOD when not using live TV (although I was testing a different, external tunner, when it crashed and I was in WMC too, just not live TV)

I tested RAM with memtest86 2 days ago, for an hour or so only but there were 0 errors.

minidump from 2 days ago wasn't saved, it was page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
2nd last file from today is system_service_exception and newest minidump isKernel_security_check_failure

CPU Z screens and SF zip attached

I would greatly appreciate any help or tips.

Thank you very much.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

TV Tuner drivers date from 2006 and 2009 - please uninstall the TV Tuner software and remove the device from your system

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD. I usually can't see this info in the reports, so I rely on you to check it.
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to. If involved these should be visible in the memory dump - but it doesn't hurt to check manually.

There are problems with this device in Device Manager:
Not Available ROOT\SCSIADAPTER\0000 The drivers for this device are not installed.
You can do more research using this link: Device Manager - Finding Unknown Devices - Windows 7 Help Forums

You may decide to remove (uninstall) this device. Be aware that this can render your system unbootable. Be sure that you make a System Restore Point prior to this and that you have a working System Repair disk (test it) handy in case it doesn't boot (then use the System Restore feature from the System Repair disk to restore the system to the point you made previously).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Thank you very much for your help. I have updated all drivers as well as bios a couple of days ago and haven't had any bsod problems since. The unknown device was virtual clone drive, after reinstalling it doesn't show any error. I couldn't update all the logitech drivers as I already have latest, but that wasn't the cause of problems anyway. I have had some other issues but it is not related to this problem.

Only briefly perhaps: once PC didn't boot or even post, fans were running, no error sounds, monitors black, kb and mouse inactive. I disconnected 1 monitor, connected other to mobo directly, removed gpu, reset cmos, removed 1 ram, then I disconnected the monitor from pc and suddenly keyboard and mouse were lit. So I put mobo back, connected both monitors and everything worked... I suspect it might be my old psu dying or not handeling the new GPU (R9 270x that I got a week ago, PSU is Seasonic SS-500ET, T3 500W OEM (bought in September 2010).

Later that day this happened out of nowhere, when starting iTunes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptbaG4f2rfc
screen went mad, PC didn't freeze though, everything kept working. No error log in event viewer. I restarted and all good again.

Probably replacing psu is the safest bet. Thank you again.
