I'm getting random BSODs lately. The errors say "Kernel IN Page error" and "Critical Process Died". After reboots, some of my software gets reset (i.e. I need to relogin to chrome to get my preferences/plugins back)

Hi

Please post a "Speccy" snapshot of your system as per Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - Internet Applications Mini-Guides

Make sure to post the web link it displays.

Hi

Please follow the below steps.

1. Uninstall or update Razer Lycosa keyboard driver.

Current version seems to be extremely old and will create compatibility issues.

Razer Lycosa/Razer Tarantula Keyboard Driver. Older versions have BSOD issues with Win7
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=Lycosa.sys

Completely remove the driver first and check whether there is an update available in Razer Support

If no native "Windows 8" driver available, keep it uninstalled and use another keyboard.

2. Uninstall or update PowerISO.

SCDEmu.SYS Mon Apr 12 14:22:25 2010 (4BC2DF49)
PowerISO Virtual Drive driver

"Windows 8" came with native support for ISO mounting. Please uninstall PowerISO and use the native ISO mounting option.

3. Update Chipset driver.

Download and update latest chipset driver from AMD Chipset Drivers

What you need to download is the version 13.9 of the driver which is published on 9/18/2013.

If the BSOD continues, please upload the latest crash dumps with next reply.

Hi

Are you sure you followed all the steps especially updating Razer Lycosa driver ?. That driver is historically old so it is very important to either remove it completely or updating to a native "Windows 8" version. Currently i am at work so will check the crash dumps once i get back home. In the meantime, please try the below steps.

1. Scan for malwares.

Please use the below tools to scan the system.

Kaspersky TDSS Killer - TDSSKiller Rootkit Removal Utility Free Download | Kaspersky Lab US

MalwareBytes Antimalware - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Download (full scan )

2. Disconnect the external USB HDD and check whether the BSOD happens.

Hi

Old version of Razer driver seems to be still there.

Also chipset driver doesn't seems to be updated. Please follow instructions from my previous post exactly. Keyboard driver either need to be updated or removed completely and chipset driver should be updated.

Hi

This time keyboard driver seems to be updated properly.

Code:
[COLOR=RED][B]Lycosa.sys                  [COLOR=#ff0000][B]Thu Feb 28 10:20:03 2013[/B][/COLOR] (512EE1FB)[/B][/COLOR]

Also chipset drivers are updated so obviously they are not the problem here. Let us check for possible hardware issues.

1. Complete the malware scan as requested.

2. Reset system BIOS.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)
After resetting, load default values in BIOS. This is to make sure none of the critical settings are intentionally or non intentionally changed.

3.
Adjust RAM timings manually.

According to the official specs, 9-9-9-27 is the tested and recommended timing for your memory.

4. Reapply CPU thermal paste.

Your CPU seems to be running on abnormal temperature.

Code:
AMD A10-6800K: [COLOR=#ff0000][B]64 °C[/B][/COLOR]
Richland 32nm Technology

64 C is not the max temperature but your CPU shouldn't be running on that temp in idle stage. If the temp is 64 in idle stage, it will cross 70 when under load. I suspect some cooling issues with your system.

First make sure all system fans are working fine and nothing prevents airflow inside the cabinet. I highly recommend adding some extra cooling fans to ease the airflow. Whether the BSOD is related to overheating or not, this will greatly improve the life of all system components.

If necessary, remove and reapply the old CPU thermal compound. Make sure to use a high quality thermal paste like "Arctic Silver Premium".

After following the above steps, please post a new "Speccy" snapshot to verify the changes. Also report whether you can fin a pattern in the crashes (ie, how much time system works without crashing, if the BSOD can be invoked by doing some specific task etc) .
