BSOD when waking from sleep or when restarted

Hello everyone,
my 2 month old laptop suddenly started having some serious problems a couple of days ago. After searching I found people with similar problems being helped here. When i close my computer, or it goes into sleep mode or when i restart it, I get the BSOD. Additionally, when it restarts after the BSOD, about 30-60 seconds after entering normal windows, it stops to think and subsequently I cannot perform any action for about 4-5 minutes. I'm in the middel of my exam period, so any help would be deeply appreciated!

When i get the BSOD, it has been reported that i can search for two problems online: "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED" and "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE" (though the last one has only appeard once, during the last BSOD). When the system failure report is to be sent, the files that are sent is called:
C:\Windows\Minidump\120413-27718-01.dmp
C:\Users\Nico\Appdata\Local\Temp\WER-56375-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

My laptop is a Samsung 5 Series Ultra NP540U3C-A04SE.

  • 1.8 GHz Intel Core i3-3217U processor
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000
  • 6 GB memory

The dump files zip file is attached. Let me know if you need anything else!

Again, hope someone can help me, these are desperate times. Thanks in advance for all help, I will be forever grateful for a speedy recovery.

Hi

Your issue seems to be storage driver related.

Code:
BugCheck 9F, {4, 12c, fffffa8004f00a80, fffff880009bd810}

Can't retrieve thread context, Win32 error 0n30
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for win32k.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for win32k.sys
Probably caused by : [COLOR=#ff0000][B]storport.sys[/B][/COLOR] ( storport!RaSendIrpSynchronous+71 )

Please try the below steps.

1. Update Chipset driver.

Wow, it seemed like it worked, this is great!

Thank you so much Anshad Edavana! Must say you saved me PC-repair money, as well as a lot of irritation and grief :) And a thanks to the operators of this forum in general, great initiative this.

Any tips for what I should do/watch out for going forward to stop this from happening again, or is it kind of inevitable?

Hi

Glad to hear that it worked for you. Keeping Windows up to date is the best thing we can do to avoid software issues. Manually creating system restore points at regular intervals (say, once in every week) is also highly recommended. If a third party software or driver installation corrupted Windows, you can easily restore the system to a date prior to this happening (without affecting the data).

Another thing you should do is to make regular backup of all the important data to an external medium like USB drives. 32/64 GB flash drives are pretty cheap in these days. Making regular backups will save your data from unpredictable hardware failures (ie, HDD gone bad etc).

Regards :).
