I recently bought a Aspire V3-772G. I was using the laptop with no problems for a few days.

Then started updating all the drivers from the acer website. And updated the bios from 1.12 to 1.13.

Since today i got the one BSOD after the other one.

I already tried to install the intel and nvidea drivers from their own websites, but without success.

Anyone any idea what to do?

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (26 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Hi usasma,

Thanks for the reply. I think I already resolved the problem with fiddling with some common issues that this particular laptop has. I'm not quite sure what resolved the issue. But what i did was the following:

1. Downgraded the BIOS to 1.08 (source)

2. Removed Intel® Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (source)

I will probably re update the BIOS to latest version to see if that was the problem, I will post my results later.

I'm glad to hear that you've probably fixed it already.
My efforts are geared towards the BSOD's and I don't do much research into common system issues.

The drawback to the BIOS downgrade is that you don't get the fixes that the new versions came out with. But, should the BIOS be the problem, then you're "between a rock and a hard place" because you have to decide which you need more (the new fixes or the stability of the old version).

I'd suspect the HAXM because of this article: Intel® Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager 1.0.6 (R3) | Intel® Developer Zone and the outdated Android drivers on your system. Just a guess on my part tho'

Good luck!

So i was cheering a bit too soon, when reading your reply i got an new BSOD, after a full day of no problems.

I will try to update the outdated drivers you mentioned and see if that resolves the problem.

HAXM can't be the cause of this BSOD since i uninstalled it. Maybe this is another cause al together since this morning with the HAXM en BIOS 1.13 i got multiple (3) BSOD in a very short time period (~1h).

Also added the new dumps.

Thanks in advanced

HAXM was present in one of the last 2 BSOD's - but not in the other.
There were only 2 new memory dumps in the upload that you just made - how many did you see happen?
Please do the following (so I can count the BSOD's from the log file):
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

I have to wonder if your Truecrypt program and your Bluetooth drivers are Win8.1 compatible (as they date from 2012). Please start by ensuring that your versions are compatible with Win8.1 - and then move on to check the rest of the drivers that date from before Win8.1 was released (26 Oct 2013).

Ok, so ... I did a factory restore with tha Acer Recovery Manager. Reverting back to Windows 8 and the original drivers. I got the first BSOD after 30 minutes.

Here's a new dump

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows
This is a STOP 0x50 error - most of these are caused by 3rd party drivers
A reinstall of Windows with the original drivers (with all Windows Updates and no added programs) is usually a sign of a hardware problem.
We presume that a reinstall with factory media means that Windows is OK

So, start with ensuring that you have ALL Windows Updates (you have 86 currently - most systems have 150 or more). This includes optional updates and any hardware drivers that may be available. No need to install any Bing or Live Essentials stuff that may be presented (unless you want it).

Also, download and install the latest, Win8 compatible driver for your Broadcom NetLink BCM57780 ethernet card from here: Ethernet NIC NetLink Driver Downloads | Broadcom This is for the k57nd60a.sys driver that currently dates from 2011.

Uninstall Norton and use the Norton Removal Tool (free from here: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us
Then ensure (in Action Center) that Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall are turned on and working.
This will remove the ccSetx64.sys that dates from 2012.

Then go to the Acer website for your system and download install the 4 Intel drivers listed there (SATA AHCI, iAMT, chipset, and Video)
This is probably not critical for a Win8 system, but it should take care of the rest of the 2012 drivers.

If the BSOD's continue after that, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Also, run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

This is the memory dump that you posted while I was researching my previous post. I include it for completeness here. It doesn't change my previous advice (the dump is essentially the same as the previous one).

EDIT: Leave Driver Verifier on and get started with the hardware diagnostics. Complete the other steps as you are able.
