Hello -

After Upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1 I am getting a BSOD approximate 2-3 min after coming out of sleep. I have media center running on the PC and a Harmony 880 remote that the power button is set to - turn the TV, DishTV box, the 7.2 surround Sound receiver powered off and the PC to Sleep Mode. This setup has worked flawlessly under Windows 8. Things I have noticed since upgrading is my 1tb external Western Digital My Book drive seems to be put in a power saving mode after a period of time being idle. I have gone into the power settings and set to High Performance and modified the Advanced settings to - Turn off Hard drives to Never and USB selective suspend to Never as I am suspicious this is causing the BSOD. BTW - even with these setting the drive still goes into a power saving state. Workarounds I have Tried - manually turning off the other devices off and leaving the PC turned on, This works. Rebooting the PC as soon as it comes out of sleep sometimes works and sometimes BSOD with the same error while shutting down. I have waited this long as I was hoping MS might release an Udate that might fix this. Other than that the PC runs great.

I have attached the ZIP file created Using the Utility you provied and any thoughts You have would be greatly appreciated.

Some peripheral device connected to the USB port is having problem in switching the power states. It could be either software (most times) or hardware malfunction.

I have TWO i7 computers, one a laptop, one a Z87 i7 Desktop (Both are 3D); and BOTH Crash with Windows 8.1 x64 installed with ALL UPDATES (ALL software is updated & all hardware updated software [inc Bios]).

BAD_POOL_CALLER
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
Are the two I have had today repeatedly.

The problem is that Windows 8.1 is a dogs dropping; it stinks; it is coded like puke to the core.

My 1998 XP 32-bit Computer here has ZERO PROBLEMS and that runs a Athlon X64 single core chip.
