Windows 8.1 Hanging at "Please Wait" then BSOD

I just got a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad T440p on Friday and to my surprise it came loaded with Windows 8 and not Windows 8.1. I've been struggling to upgrade to Windows 8.1, initially getting a BSOD during the install. Now I've gotten past the install and am always getting it to get suck at the Log in screen with the "Please Wait" message. Eventually it will lock up and get a BSOD "driver power state failure" message.

I have the latest video card drivers, latest wifi drivers, latest power management drivers. Everything updated from the Lenovo website and Windows Update site.

I am posting this message from Safe Mode and it's been the only way I've been able to get on it since upgrading to 8.1.

I've tried to isolate what could be the culprit driver, but have been unable to do so, so I've attached my SF Diagnostics zip file. I've run SFC /Scannow and it found no errors. I had absolutely no problems at all when I was running Windows 8, so I don't suspect any type of hardware issue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

BSOD's point to the nVidia video drivers. Are you sure that the latest Lenovo drivers are Win8.1 compatible (NOT Win8)?
Please include a link to the downloads page so we can verify it.
You may try downloads from the nVidia driver support page - but I'm not sure how well that'll work (or even if they're available) for your system.

Please remove this program while we're troubleshooting:
WPRO_41_2001.sys Mon Nov 7 16:04:48 2011 (4EB847F0)
CACE Technologies WinPcap Packet Driver
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=WPRO_41_2001.sys

The devices aren't working:
Lenovo Settings Power ROOT\SYSTEM\0002 This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.
Lenovo Settings Camera Audio ROOT\SYSTEM\0003 This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.
Please uninstall them, then reinstall them using the latest, Win8.1 compatible drivers (NOT Win8 drivers).

FWIW - I can't install 8.1 on my new Samsung laptop either. I haven't had time to mess with it - but I suspect it's something that's incompatible that Samsung loaded on the system. Gotta go through them one-by-one to see :(

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Thanks for your reply. These are the NVIDIA drivers I installed:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037793

They're the latest available that I can download as Nvidia's website won't let me download newer ones since it's Optimus (switchable graphics).

I'll look at taking out those two Lenovo applications.

Next, we wait.....
Should the system BSOD again, then zip up the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump and upload them with your next post.
