Unexpected shutdowns on new desktop - Event 41,task 63

Main Symptom : The new PC stops responding after several hours (sometimes a few) of intensive work and then it shuts down.Sometimes it produces a blue screen with the "critical process dies" message and sometimes doesn't.The problem was appearing also after fresh install of 2 versions of windows 7.Now in official Win8 it appears also. All these 3 windows versions were working fine on other desktops.
Event viewer : One critical error appears every time : Event ID 41 , task 63 , kernel-power.
Connected Peripherals : 1)Keyboard, 2)Stylus pen, 3)Printer, 4)Wireless usb adapter,5)Stereo speakers,6)usb hub, 7) four external hard disc drives
What i personally tried so far and what the technician did :
1.Tried 3 versions of Windows to see if the problem had to do with them. The problem appeared in all versions.
2.Updated all drivers and MB and VGA drivers of course. No result.
3.Ran memtest and hard disc check. No problems.
4.Disabled one of the two audio drivers ( disabled nvidia audio and left enabled the realtek audio). No result.
5.Disabled sleep.No result
6.I personally checked for 3 hours how the PC responds with only mouse and keyboard connected and without heavy use. The PC didn't crash. The technician also did the same with his mouse and his keyboard for 10 hours but without heavy use also. The PC didn't crash. The technician returned my PC and said that he couldn't find any problem in his lab and that the problem must probably have to do with the peripherals.
So when the problem really appears :
The problem appears when all the peripherals are connected and after a little bit of intensive use. ( Photoshop many hours - Transfers of thousand of images from one external hard dick to the other - Printer and internet use ).
Note : The same peripherals were used on the old PC with winxp, in the same electricity plug, and there was no problem at all.

I have spent a lot of time to understand if the problem is software or hardware related. My guess goes to a possibly problematic PSU.The PSU is Corsair 650W and new of course but i think it can't handle many peripherals and intensive use.If the problem was driver related then i guess that the crash would appear not only after heavy use but also after normal use.Another guess is that there is a problem with usb controller and that's why the peripherals that are connected via usb are causing problems.Don't know.

I attach the SF diagnostic folder.I hope that someone will help me understand what is causing this major problem.:(

Few possibilities that would cause the PC to crash:
 1. Even your PSU is new and 650W is plenty of power. It does not mean it is not defective. If you can use another PSU to test with.
 2. Did the technician monitor the temperature of your CPU ? Core Temp 64bit - Windows 8 Downloads
 3. Go into the BIOS. Manually set the voltage of your RAM to factory spec instead of Auto.
 4. Double check all cables and CPU Heatsink inside the case for proper connections.

Hope this helps.

It would help if you fill out the system specs so we can better help you since we don't know what type of PC you have, CPU, MB, RAM etc...

EDIT: it's strange that you cannot run coretemp. How about right click on the exe and run as Admin to see if it runs

Ok, i went to the office and run the coretemp successfully ( i don't know why my sister couldn't run it but anyway ).
The readings seem to be fine.See attached image.

Today the computer crashed 3 times without heavy use.

Along with the image of coretemp, i attach a txt with all the hardware of my PC and the peripherals and the errors. In the first post i have the SF Diagnostics folder.

I also attach a screenshot where the program "driver agent" tells me which drivers i have and which i don't.The strange thing is that it tells me that i don't have the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller but i have it installed. As for the motherboard i have downloaded all the drivers with the use of MSI update tool and the Intel update tool.In the device manager i don't have a missing driver.

I've noticed that you have Avast installed. There's been cases that Anti Virus would caused BSOD. For test purpose, can you temporarily uninstall this software: avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal
Please report back your progress.

FYI, Windows Defender is good enough. However, it depends on how careful you use your PC while surfing/Downloading the Internet

Hi

In addition to what "topgundcp" requested, please provide a "Speccy" snapshot of your system. To do that, read the below tutorial and post the web link displayed by 'Speccy" with next reply.

Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - Internet Applications Mini-Guides

I have downloaded Speccy from yesterday but i haven't gone to my sister's office.I' ll go today a take a snapshot of the system with Speccy.Maybe we have found what is causing the unexpected shutdowns and the BSODs.See below.

I've noticed that you have Avast installed. There's been cases that Anti Virus would caused BSOD. For test purpose, can you temporarily uninstall this software: avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal .Please report back your progress.
FYI, Windows Defender is good enough. However, it depends on how careful you use your PC while surfing/Downloading the Internet

The unexpected shutdowns were happening before Avast.I installed Avast a week ago and i ve been having the problem for 2,5 months.

Anyway, yestarday i told my sister who is using the computer to spend the whole day without the wireless usb adapter connected and i told her also to disable in the device manager the drivers related to the wireless network. She told me there were 2 drivers :
1)One that i have installed from TP-LINK site ( the latest compatible with Windows 8 ) and
2)One from Microsoft called "Microsoft kernel debugger" or something like that.

I told her to disable both of them and remove the usb wireless adapter. She spent 10 hours in the office doing heavy work and nothing happened! No unexpected shutdown, no BSOD !

I hope that i have found the guilty part ! I am not sure yet and i will see also today if the PC will close without the wifi adapter on it.Let me tell you something else concerning the adapter :

The first day we got the PC, i installed Win7.Everything was working great but when i inserted the wireless adapter ( netgear ) , the system froze and also the 2 DVD roms were vanished from my computer and the device manager!I tested again the same thing was happening everytime i inserted the Wireless usb adapter.

So i took the adapter to the store i bought the PC and told them it was faulty. They tested it on their PC and it was working fine with the same driver but on Windows 8 system. I told them that i was not going to install Win8 just for the wireless adapter and ask them to replace it with another. So they gave me another one from TP-Link this time.

I inserted the new tp link wireless adapter and installed it's driver. No freeze this time but the dvd roms were vanishing again. So i decided to install Windows 8.With Windows 8, the dvdroms were not vanishing and at first everything was working fine. Then the BSODs started and here we are now.

So can a wireless adapter produce such mess? Why both of the adapters are working good on other machines with the same drivers? Is there a conflict between the motherboard's drivers and the wireless usb adapter drivers? What is this Microsoft kernel driver in the wireless drivers section???

As you can see, current version is very old (from 2007) and may cause serious issues with "Windows 8". Check win the manufacturer's site for an update. If none available, you should uninstall the driver completely from the system.

2. Update wireless driver.

Your WiFi adapter is using "Ralink" chip (now "Mediatek") which is known for buggy drivers. Please uninstall the current version completely from the system and install the latest version which can be downloaded from the below link.

MediaTek - Downloads Windows

Just enter your E-Mail address at the bottom and the download will begin.

If the issue remains, upload the latest crash dumps along with the "Speccy" snapshot .

Thank you for your help.I ll do what you suggest for both drivers and i will give the the speccy info. The problem is that i have tried all Wacom drivers and that's why you see now the old one in my system. The latest driver didn't prevent the crashes.Today the computer started crashing again. No change had been done since yesterday.I didn't inserted the wireless adapter and didn't unable the wireless driver.Nothing at all changed and still yesterday-> no crash in many hours, today-> 2 crashes in 6 hours. This is c r a z y.

And something that appeared again ( it had appeared the first time i have bought he PC and installed Windows ) : The 2 dvd-rw vanished from my computer and the device manager when i inserted another wireless adapter.I restarted the PC without the wireless adapter and they appeared normally.

Why is this happening? How can every usb wireless adapter i use, affect the dvdrw????

I will do a format tomorrow, reinstall Windows, install the driver you suggested for the wireless adapter and i will give you then feedback.

I am not an expert, you know much more than me but i think that the MB is the problem or it's drivers.)

If i remember correctly the Wacom Intuos doesn't work with Windows driver so i am forced to install it's driver after the format from here : Drivers | Wacom

Can i ask you 3 questions ?

Question 1 :

Yesterday the PC crashed without the wireless adapter and the Wacom mouse attached. My sister used an ordinary Microsoft mouse.Does this tell us something about the problem? Can the Wacom driver cause a problem without the Wacom mouse attached? If i disable the Wacom driver, disable the wireless adapter, remove the devices from the usb ports, and the PC crash again, will it mean that the problem is not caused by these devices and drivers?

Question 2 :

If you have a PC that runs perfectly on Monday for 10 hours and then on Tuesday morning you open the PC and it immediately freeze and shuts down while finishing loading the desktop , what does it tell you? The drivers were working fine on Monday night and didn't work on Tuesday morning????

Question 3 :

From your experience, can a case produce unexpected shutdowns? I have this :
Carbide Series® 200R Compact ATX Case - Carbide Series - Cases

Hi

A cabinet can't cause a BSOD but a failing power supply can. I advised you to update the drivers merely because they are outdated. It is more and more feels like a hardware/compatibility issue to me.

Please post the "Speccy" snapshot i requested. It is necessary to decide what to do next.

The PC crashed with the new wireless driver installed ( the one you suggested ) and the latest Wacom driver after fresh install of Windows. As i got mad, i took the PC and left it to the technicians of the store i bought it.So for the moment i can't provide you the speccy snapshot as i don't have access to the PC.I told the technician that i am not going to get it back until the PC will crash on his hands.

So i ll report back to you after the report of the technician. Thanks for your help so far.

The technicians have the PC in their store for 2,5 days, they didn't change anything and the PC has no freezes and unexpected shutdowns. The pluggeg in external hard disks, wireless adapters, mouse, keyboard and played dvds.Nothing happened. The PC is running great in their office.

So this means logically that one of the peripherals in my sister's office is causing the crashes or the electricity sockets.
The peripherals are :
1)the printer
2)the wireless adapter
3)the five external hard diks
4)the Wacom Intuos stylus pen
5)the usb hub
6)the bass woofer

None of the above is causing problems to the old previous PC which has XP installed. The only old peripherals of the above are the Wacom Intuos stylus pen, the bass woofer, the usb hub and 2 of the 5 external hard disks ( 3.5'' )

If i will get the PC on Monday i ll tell my sister to connect only a standard keyboard and a standard mouse.I will also run the Speccy and give you feedback.

Do i have to run Speccy with all the peripherals plugged in?

If it is a peripheral issue, "Speccy" or crash dump won't give us any useful info. To find the culprit, please try plugging one at a time. Connect one peripheral and run the system one full day, if stable add the next one. Repeat this until the system became unstable (hopefully not !). Personally i suspect either the wireless adapter or "Wacom stylus pen" as they had known issues with some systems. Plugging five hard drive will draw a lot of power from USB ports so it can also be a reason. If connected one at a time. we will know.

Ι have done what you suggest with the peripherals ( not completely though ) and personally i don't suspect neither the Wacom neither the Wireless because my sister used one day the PC without them and the PC crashed again. The thing that i hadn't done thought in that test was to remove also the drivers of Wacom and TP-Link.I don't know if a driver can cause a problem when the device is not plugged in. ( are the drivers running always even if the devices are not connected ? )

The specific day when my sister worked without Wacom and wireless adapter, the only peripherals that were attached in the PC when it crashed, were a) five external hard disks, b) the printer OfficeJet Pro 8500 c) the usb hub where we connect some of the external hard drives d) the woofer , e) a wirelless keyboard , b) a wireless mouse

As for what you 've said "Plugging five hard drive will draw a lot of power from USB ports so it can also be a reason" i refuse to believe that this is responsible for the crashes, because the same 5 external hard disks are connected to the old PC and they don't crash it.Can they draw power and crash the new PC and not the old PC which has also a smaller PSU? It doesn't seem logical to me.Correct me if i am wrong.

So this is leave us with only 3 suspect devices : 1) Printer, 2) Usb hub 3) Woofer.
When we get the PC i ll tell my sister to work without any of them connected. Should i remove the driver of the printer also or it's enough to just not connect it?
