BSOD - driver_power_state_failure

  1. #11

Ok I've already enable it but there's a yellow exclamation mark, what does that mean? I can't update it either. And I haven't use card reader for a long time. I only use pendrive and hard disks.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

Right click on USB2.0-CRW device and select "Uninstall"
Then reboot. If it comes back, then reinstall the card reader drivers (this may be because you installed the drivers while the device was disabled).

    It works man, thanks.

The Other Devices tab is gone, so where it is being installed? So far the Restarting process is back to normal and I can plug/unplug my pendrives and all usbs perfectly.

I believe that the problem device became a "phantom device" once you installed the drivers for the Card Reader.
I think this happens because the USB2.0-CRW device was disabled and couldn't change (when you installed the Card Reader drivers)
As such the system decided to just treat it as if it was a phantom device.
Since it had no drivers installed, it was easy for the system to remove it when you told it to "uninstall"

Or, I just got lucky with the guesses I made! :0)

Hmm ok, lol. Anyway thanks for the help man, my problem is solved.

In the future, how to know if there's any driver that is outdated or any update available for it?

Dating drivers is a difficult task as there's no sure way to determine if they are problematic or not.

When having BSOD's we presume the problems (as we don't know which are actually at fault) and act proactively to update anything that may be out of date (we update anything that we can find, and we update them from the device manufacturer's website if possible).

At work we update systems (that are not having problems) by using Windows Update and the OEM manufacturer's tools/website (Dell in this case). My experience with the Dell updater hasn't been successful, so I just keep an eye out for drivers released around/after the OS/Service Pack was released.

It won't hurt for you to check the Dell site for all drivers, then monitor it to update as new one's are released.

FWIW - I don't trust the driver updaters that you find on the web. In most cases they aren't worth using - and in those that do do an accurate job, they're often too complicated to be useful.

    Good luck!

Sir, I found this on my Action Center about a driver installation for memory card reader. I thought I already installed it? But the BSOD is solved though.

Just dismiss it for now (it was probably there all along). If it comes back again we'll look into it then.
