    Hi
I did a clean install of 8.1 but been plagued with the same DCOM Event Errors,{1B1F472E-3221-4826-97DB-2C2324D389AE}and {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001} I did find is that every time Windows Defender runs a scan on its own im getting the errors, if you compare the time on the error and the time last run on Windows Defender they are always the same, there is no error if I do a manual scan.
I want to turn off the auto scan and prefer to do manual scans don't have a clue how to make the change.

I agree. I don't have Start 8, did a clean install and don't find it related to defender. Each time I use Weather I get this. I tried fiddling with the DCOM permissions for Immersive Shell but can't get rid of it. It has been there since the preview. Having said that it doesn't seem to actually cause any problem other than the error message appearing.

I had the issue with Bing Weather but it was a different Event Error if I recall it was 10016 and there was like a half dozen at a time, I deleted it don't ever use it.
The Event Error in question is #10010 which seems {1B1F472E-3221-4826-97DB-2C2324D389AE}and {BF6C1E47-86EC-4194-9CE5-13C15DCB2001}that is the most common that everyone seems to be having.
As I said with Windows Defender I checked the past 3 days all were at the same time as the Event Error and when windows defender ran, I haven't seen any problems other then the entry in Events so it is probably cosmetic, just annoying to see.

I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and I'm getting the same error DCOM errors. I read on another board it might have to do with skydrive. I noticed the DCOM errors happen right upon rebooting and doing automatic maintenance.

I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and I'm getting the same error DCOM errors. I read on another board it might have to do with skydrive and using a local account instead of a Microsoft account. I don't use neither of them. I noticed the DCOM errors happen right upon rebooting and doing automatic maintenance. I would presume some task is trying to run and since I don't use skydrive or a microsoft account it's throwing back the DCOM error?

Those who are getting the errors are you using a Microsoft account instead of a local account?

That is probably a wise decision. Otherwise, it will drive you crazy trying to chase all of them down....think I will adopt your philosophy, usasma!

I am using Microsoft Account and getting them. I uninstalled Bing Weather and they subsided, however I think SkyDrive, Windows Defender, and Automatic Maintenance may have something to do with my DCOM errors.....but I don't have the slightest idea how to stop the errors. Just ignore them, I guess.

Go into Task Schedule and disable Skydrive. So far I haven't had any errors. Nothing last night or today.

If Windows works and does not do strange (!) things, I would agree about ignoring this errors, it will drive us sooner or later paranoic. It is a fact that Windows 8.1 still has a lot of issues waiting to be fixed.
