Hi, I updated to the Windows 8.1 preview today and about 5-10 seconds after logging in I get a bluescreen with the error message "SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDELED (igdkmd64.sys)".
I might add that it doesn't try to boot regularly, it either reaches the windows spash screen and then the screen turns black and nothing happens. When I hit the reset button it will most of the times detect that there is an error instead and then display a menu with diagnostic/recovery options. If I choose startup settings -> debugging mode it will boot normally and bsod after 5-10 seconds with the same error as above.
I read that it could be a problem with graphics card drivers. So I removed my graphics card (ASUS gtx 660 ti) but nothing changed, so it must be the integrated GPU. I have a intel core i5 3570k with the intel HD 4000 GPU which I also read some people mention was the problem.
I searched for updates and found this page: Windows 8.1 Preview x86 and x64 graphics driver availability status (Preliminary)
and I downloaded the update but I didn't find any installation instructions or anything, so I dont have any clue how to install it. It is a .cab file which I extracted with winrar, it contained some .exe files which I tried to run in safe mode. Nothing happened though. It also says on that page that the drivers should be installed automatically during the installation (I was connected to the internet during the installation) so it seems strange that it would cause problems.
I'm currently out of ideas so any help would be much appreciated.
PS. sorry for the somewhat sloppy and unstructured text but I'm tired as hell + I'm not a native English speaker.
edit: I just saw the posting instructions, I will upload a dump and diagnostic when I get home tomorrow.
