Random BSOD

Hello there!

I'm having a problem with a random BSOD. I have just upgraded to a new processor and motherboad. They happen usually while I'm playing games though, i use this desktop mainly for games so I wouldn't know if its video related.

I have already done a "system refreshing" but the BSOD persists but, I've noticed a decrease, I don't know whether its related or not. I have also run Prime 95 and Memtest86 for 2 passes and there were no errors. I'll leave on memtest tonight and report back.

The attachment is from SF_Diagnostic_Tool with the dump files.

I Really don't know what to do, buy a new HDD? Memory sticks? Change drivers?
Thanks so much for your time!!! =)

Update:

I have run Prime95 Blend torture test for 8 passes with no errors and windows memory diagnostic for 2 passes without errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

I have just run into a BSOD, dump files uploaded as Reevur2.zip.

Systeminfo.txt says 428 hotfixes have been installed.
It actually lists 243 hotfixes installed.
Most systems have 100 or so.
There is a problem here - but I'm not sure what it's due to.
I'd suggest posting over in the Windows Updates forum to see if they can figure it out: Windows Updates & Activation - Windows 8 Forums

There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide the MGADiag report according to these instructions (from this post: Product Key Number - Uninstall and Deactivate in Windows - Page 3 - Windows 7 Help Forums ):
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

You have a 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card:
I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Many Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32.
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

You appear to have Avast and BitDefender installed. Please only have 1 anti-virus and 1 firewall running at a time. Remove tghe rest as they can interfere with each other.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions (to help rule out 3rd party drivers): Driver Verifier Settings

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there (I'm particularly concerned about the video tests).

This is not a pirated copy. I bought this copy on my laptop and used it for a while then formatted it and changed to windows 7 again When I tried to install windows 8 onto this desktop, it wouldn't accept the serial key. I had to call windows costumer support, after providing a string of numbers they returned the a code - and that worked. Before making this thread I was already having BSOD, since my girlfriend did the install I was not so sure she did it right, I couldn't use windows update properly, it kept saying "windows update failure: reverting back updates" (or something in thoses lines).

That's why I tried to use the "refresh system" option and, then again, i had to call costumer support to get my key validated. After the refreshing the windows updates went smoothly but the BSOD persisted, I usually get them when trying to play League of Legends.

When i press copy in the MGADiag a window pops: "failed to create output files hr=800700002 please contact support"

here is MGADIAG:

The Live Kernel Events appear to have stopped on 28 Sep. Before then they were mostly associated with bugchecks, although a few were isolated. I suspect that something that you did on 28 Sep has stopped these events. I don't think that there is a need to investigate them further (unless they start happening again).

Many Device Setup Manager errors in the log. I'm not familiar with this, but it appears to be a function in Win8 that scans for driver updates. Most posts that I found relate to Windows Servers and there's not much that I found that was helpful. The things that I did find were:
1) ensure that all drivers are updated to the latest version from the manufacturer.
2) you can turn off the service in order to stop the errors - but this will leave you vulnerable (as you won't get notified of driver updates).
3) quite a few of your errors are related to network connectivity. Try ensuring that your connection is constant and stable in order to avoid those kinds of errors.

Did you have Driver Verifier turned on for these errors? If so, it worked - so please turn it off (open verifier.exe and select "Delete existing settings", then click on "Finish". Reboot for the changes to take effect.

The 2 latest memory dumps blame RzDxgk.sys - a driver for your Razer Ovrlay Support device.
First try:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8 compatible drivers for your Razer device
- uninstall the current Razer drivers from your system.
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's
If the BSOD's contine, try removing the software again - and then physically remove the Razer device from your system.
Then monitor for further BSOD's.

Please follow these instructions to remove all traces of BitDefender: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/How-to-uninstall-Bitdefender-333.html

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I had ordered a SSD. I Installed windows on it and ran into another BSOD while installing a program into my HDD, could this still be driver related or is it a faulty HDD?

Please remove Gigabyte EasySaver (if also installed, please remove Gigabyte EasyTune6 (ET6)). They are known to cause BSOD's.

Please follow these instructions to remove all traces of BitDefender: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/H...ender-333.html

Please uninstall SmartDefrag - it's older and isn't needed with Win8. If you must have it, feel free to reinstall the latest, Win8 compatible version AFTER the system has been stabilized

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hello there! Thanks for your continued effort!

I haven't installed Gigabyte EasyTune6. I think i have finally been able to remove all traces of BitDefender. I have uninstalled SmartDefrag. I have updated Realtek HD Audio sound driver.

If any BSOD should still occur in a week time, i will update otherwise, I'll close this Thread. Thanks for your support! =)

I wasn't able to remove the bdfsfltr.sys even after running the uinstall tools. Every time I use the tool, the driver comes back after a reboot at msinfo32 list. I have removed:
gdrv.sys Thu Mar 12 23:22:29 2009 (49B9D175), SmartDefragDriver.sys Fri Nov 26 04:29:40 2010 (4CEF7E04), RtHDMIVX.sys Fri Dec 2 05:32:46 2011 (4ED8A94E)

Let's see how things go for now. If the BitDefender file is still listed in subsequent BSOD's - then we'll remove it manually (don't try it just yet as it may render the system unbootable). I've got a set of instructions that will allow you to recover should it stop the computer from booting.

I just ran the memory dump that you uploaded in Post #13 - it shows network issues and the BitDefender file still present (there are other network files, but this one stands out.

Try this to get rid of the BitDefender file:
1) Create a Restore Point using System Restore
2) Create a Repair disc:
Win8 - Press "WIN" and "R" to open the Run dialog...type "RECDISC" (without the quotes) and press ENTER
3) Test the System Repair disc to make sure that you can get to the System Restore entry when you boot from the disk (you may also want to try actually using System Restore to make sure that it works)
4) Download this free program (Autoruns for Windows) and use it to disable any instances of bdfsfltr.sys that are starting (or any other BitDefender entries) (DO NOT DELETE - only disable by removing the checkmark in the left hand column)
5) Check in Device Manager (to include showing hidden devices from the View menu item) and ensure that any instances of bdfsfltr.sys (or any other BitDefender entries) are "Uninstalled" (DO NOT DISABLE THESE).
6) Check in the Services applet (services.msc) to be sure any instances of bdfsfltr.sys or any other BitDefender entries are disabled.
7) Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename the bdfsfltr.sys driver to bdfsfltr.BAD (search the hard drive for it if it's not in C:\Windows\System32\drivers).

In the event that the system doesn't boot:

1) Boot from the System Repair disc and use the Command Prompt option to rename bdfsfltr.BAD to bdfsfltr.sys
Code:
ren C:\Windows\System32\drivers\bdfsfltr.BAD C:\Windows\System32\drivers\bdfsfltr.sys
2) Boot from the System Repair disc and use the System Restore option to restore the system to a point before the changes were made.

Good luck!

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

BitDefender is gone - but the Audio file is still there.
Don't worry about it for now.

I couldn't get to windows log in screen with Verifier on. The system booted up and kept restarting after the bios. I had to do a system restore to revert the verifier settings. Here are the files. I don't think there was a mini dump though.

I have noticed the ram sticks are from different years, I had bought 2x4gb (a) and then added another 2x4gb(b). The thing is, they were mixed together, a sticks with b sticks. They have the same specifications(as far as I know, even the timings) though. I have, now, changed them in the mobo anyway so the ones in the same year will use the same dualchannel.
