Hey all, new member TLSheff.

My rig has been plaguing me lately with random BSOD, trying to figure it out and I'm stuck. Not wanting to start throwing money at parts hoping to fix it I am coming to you find gurus for knowledge.

To start, most of the parts are 1-2 years old. Hard life, I game like its nobodies business. CPU started as a 3.2 Callisto Black dual core AMD. Has been unlocked & overclocked to a B65 x4 @ 3.72 Ghz, been that way for over a year now. Avg is 35-40* C under load so it stays cool, haven't had a problem but hey, overclocked parts do go out faster than normal. But I went back to stock clock settings and still have random BS's so I don't THINK that is it.

Ram is newer, 6mnths old, but I haven't taken the time to pull each stick and run it individually to narrow that down yet. Also have not ran and mem tests to check it yet, just haven't taken the time.

I have swapped OS to a new hard-drive, did a chk-dsk, full format, fresh install and updates and still having the same issues.

The BS's tend to show up mostly when I have all of the following running, bear with me, Gaming/Media PC gets its work done. I only get the BSOD under the circumstances that I am running my Minecraft Server program, while playing on it (been doing this for months this way, problem started a week ago), with the internet pulled up playing a movie, or streaming music. As long as I don't do the 3 together, it seems fine.... but with all 3 up, its got less than an hour before it glitches and blue smiley face.

Reading online I have done a test with the SF Diagnosis tool thingy and posting the .zip files.

If anyone can make sense of the chinese the program left for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I really just need a direction to go to. Its driving me bonkers.

Thanks TL

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting (it'll skew some of the testing results - but can't recall which one's). Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Run MemTest86+ just before hopping in bed. When you get up in the AM, check it out. More info here: Memory Diagnostics

You've done a good job of starting to troubleshoot this. Here's what I do:
- first I rule out 3rd party drivers (over 90% of BSOD's are due to this)
- then I rule out hardware (less than 10% of BSOD's are due to this)
- then I look at Windows problems (less than 1% of BSOD's are due to this - as long as Windows Updates are fully up to date).

Your BIOS dates from 2011. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

You have 3 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

This device needs drivers installed:
PCI Device PCI\VEN_1FC8&DEV_0BE0&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_00\6&2B33262B&0&00500010 The drivers for this device are not installed.
This is most likely a LucidLogix video program that came with your mobo (it may be the Virtu program) from Lucidlogix

All 4 memory dumps are most likely hardware (STOP 0x124), although low-level drivers are a possibility.
I'd be concerned with these 2 programs first (please remove them):
- RivaTuner/MSI Afterburner/EVGA Precision
- outdated (from 2008) Razer drivers
Both are known to cause BSOD's, so they must be removed. If you wish to continue using the Razer device, you MUST get drivers that are compatible with your OS. I know of no stable replacements for the RivaTuner/etc software.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

Yay, long results and good information. Thank you Usasma

I will start in order of things addressed, as I am currently at work tests will have to wait until I get home this evening, and I will run them and get back when I have more information.

To start, the O.C. I know shouldn't be the problem but as you said it might skew results so I will dial it back to stock until it is resolved. One should never make assumptions, the tiniest thing could be the problem. ;)

The memtest is a good start, again I read about it, just hadn't done it. I will give it a start when I go to lunch and let it run while I am back at work, that will give it a good 5 hours to run.

Bios- is up to date, I know its dated back at 2011, but its the latest release and none of the releases prior addressed my issue (I don't think) but its the newest version regardless. Its an older board, AM3... not AM3+ so some of the stuff is old. I need a new start but that is not in the budget lol. At least, not while everything is working anyways. If something is broken hardware wise I will find the funds to get it back to 100%.

3 HDD/Powersupply - I will not rule out the PS, it is old. Original unit from the ground built of this tower, 3-4 years ago. Coolermaster 500w, its suppose to be more than enough for 3 drives, the ram, CPU @125w and 1 old GTS250 GPU. I have plans to upgrade this next year with income tax return and install new SLI GPU of some sort... but if its going out plans will change. I have a tech friend with a digital power supply tester and will be taking the rig over to his house to some tests. Will relay that information as well once I have it.

LucidLogix Device - You hit the nail on the head my friend, but its not necessary, hasn't been installed since I did the update to Windows8 Pro when it first came out. Fresh install, hasn't been a problem... The device is indeed the video driver for the GPUx, board is a Multi GPU board so it has software to support using a Radeon & Nvidia card together with the board and software acting as a bridge. Its rather ingenious but seeing as I don't have but the 1 card I didn't install it and its been fine for months without it. But again, I digress, no assumptions, will install the drivers just to clear up the possibilities.

I recognize the STOP 0x124 as usually AMD CPU problems, right? That has had me worried sick, but staying hopeful.

The 2 programs listed shouldn't be a problem and only 1 I can safely remove and still be able to proceed.
- RivaTuner/MSI Afterburner/EVGA Precision - Can be removed without issue. It is the EVGA Nvidia card utility for overclocking, temps, and speed control. I use it solely for the speed control of the fan when gaming it bumps the speed up to 100% rather than the 33% is defaults at. As per request I can uninstall for the duration of testing until we reach a resolution.
- outdated (from 2008) Razer drivers - These on the otherhand stay. They have to. I will lose my lycosa keyboard and Nostromo gamepad without them. I will check to see if Razer has any new drivers for the keyboard, but I know the Nostromo is up to date, tho outdated as well.

Red listed drivers I can check on, not sure what the Pcouffin.sys is for, but I will try and remove whatever its attached to for resolve. PowerISO I have been using for the better part of a decade, without problems, but not necessary at the current moment so as with all things, will remove for the time being.

Again, I have been thinking its more of a hardware issue with something running too hard for too long and it forcing a crash, with the
0x124_AuthenticAMD__UNKNOWN on the CPU and the 0x124 I am thinking my poor little cpu may be on its way out.

Again, this is the 2nd fresh install of the OS and still showing the same problem, even on a different drive. Which I actually crashed the OS last night playing with drivers I apparently shouldn't have, did some manual updates and caused it to start a BSOD boot loop before it got to windows. Oh well, threw the original HDD back in that started the problem and got the PC back up and running. Either way, all same hardware, just a different drive, and same error code.

This is just all the information I know right now in response to what you said. As I built the tower from the ground up I know it down to each component. But I will do the things asked, run some of the Diag tests and if I get another BSOD I will post the dump file to see if anything has changed. Just gotta be careful, already broke one OS and don't have another to just throw in haha.

Thanks again for the help. Good direction to look at. Lets see where it take me.
- TL

Just because it's the latest version of the BIOS doesn't mean that it plays nicely with Win8. The point being that we don't know if it's a compatibility problem or not - and chasing them down can take a long time (It took a couple of weeks with my own system - and that was during a trip to Microsoft, so I had a lot of help!).

Without new Razer drivers, further troubleshooting is futile. They are known to cause BSOD's and must be removed in order to test. Maybe you can remove them temporarily - just long enough to see if that fixes the BSOD's?

As I said, removal of the Razer drivers is impossible. Only one keyboard and I don't have a spare to use instead. As soon as I would remove the drivers I would lose ability to do anything further as there would be no keyboard and upon logging out wouldn't be able to put in the password to get back in... and if I plugged the keyboard back up... new Razer drivers.

would also not advise downgrading the BIOS drivers on a motherboard either, it would likely cause futher problems as the latest driver was specifically for my boards abilty to unlock certain processors and would likely result in causing more problems being that its unlocked to 4 cores.

I appreciate all the help but I solved it. So it will be marked as solved until further notice should I have any problems.

On friday when I got home for lunch I installed the few drivers we discussed needed to be updated, restarted windows and it came back up as expected with no problems, so I restarted again and removed the overclock on the CPU back to stock clock, but left it unlocked as that would change the drivers completely and read as a different processor and again, its been unlocked for well over a year and never had a problem. Booted up, no issues.

Just before I left for work, I pulled up the server app, the game client and logged it in, pulled up my browser and opened several tabs, and turned on my temp monitors and started logging it. Sent a FaceBook message to a friend that plays and told him to log in and play and message me if it booted him and shut down the server (that way I knew if and when it bluescreened). Got home after work, still up and running (never works for more than 2 hours with everything going like I had it)

That night had a scheduled Lan Party Game night with friends. Took the tower, setup at 7ish, hosted as a server, played the game, along with a couple other games (all pulled up at the same time, thank you quad core and lots of ram), and ran my browser while streaming music... til about 3 in the morning. Never missed a beat.

Went home, set the server program back up let it run all night, no problem. Ran a memtest, passed. Ran furmark, it did as it usually does and overheats the GPU, bogs the system, and throws a general handsome frog fit, but still ran it for a couple hours. Even broke out the good ol Prime95 and ran it for a few hours, never missed a beat on it either.

Basically I ran the piddle out of the tower over the entirety of the weekend and couldn't get it to bluescreen once. So my thoughts are that running it overclocked like it was, was too much given everything I was having it do. As I said, I didn't have a problem until after a few weeks of constant stress running the server app and gaming on it like I usually do, and the only problem was when I would do both at the same time for a few hours. One or the other and it would be fine. So back to stock she will stay and hopefully there won't be any more problems.

Again, thanks for the help, should I need anything else you guys will be the first to know!

Unfortunately there's no real test for BSOD's - other than running the system until it crashes.
So we look for clues as to why the system is BSOD'ing and work from there.

Determining that a BSOD is cured is even more difficult.
It involves waiting until you're sure that there won't be any more.
But how long is long enough?
In most cases I look at a week as being the point where I'm pretty sure that it's fixed.
And if it goes 2 weeks, then I'm ready to call it fixed.
But this is just a guess, as we rarely know what causes it.
