BSOD and Pc error causing restarts

My Pc restarts at least once a day, sometimes more with the following error message:

"This Problem Caused Your PC to Restart"
C:\Windows\Minidump\092413-48843-01.dmp
C:\Users\Shana\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-178718-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

I have also gotten the BSOD on 2 or 3 occasions, but not within the past couple weeks. These error messages and restarting have been happening for about a week or two, I believe.

I have installed an xbox 360 controller for steam games and a medical transcription foot pedal for school/work. If that helps in any way.

I know, I'm sorry. I tried to do it with the post but when I pressed the upload button nothing happened. I'm trying it in a different browser now.

Ok, it worked.

Out of 9 memory dumps there were 7 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Recently I've begun to doubt the newer wireless USB XBox controllers (the one's with the xusb22.sys driver). While not a firm diagnosis, I'd suggest uninstalling the software for this device and physically removing the device from your system in order to test it.

Do the same thing with the medical transcription device (temporarily) in order to rule it out also.

More info

I will uninstall those two things, but it occurred to me that my school had me install the program that goes along with the foot pedal under compatibility mode, because it just doesn't work otherwise. Could that possibly be what causing all this. I don't really remember any of these problems before that, come to think of it. Oh, and should I uninstall one item at a time to see if it stops? That way I will know which is the problem?

I can't find any program to uninstall for either the Xbox controller or the foot pedal. I don't think there is anything under the section: Uninstall a Program, and I don't see anything when looking under 'Devices'. But maybe I don't know what I'm looking for.. If you know anything about this or have any advice on how to locate these two things, it would be appreciated. And thanks for your help.

Please provide the exact make and model of the XBox controller. I'll see if I can locate an uninstaller for it. Meanwhile, please remove the device from the system.

As for the foot pedal - I'll need the exact make and model of it in order to start researching it also.

Removing one thing at a time (and then testing) is the recommended method. But often it's too tedious and we just remove everything at once in an attempt to stabilize the system.

Its a 'Rock Candy' Xbox controller. PL-3760. It also says PDP on the back, if that helps.
The foot pedal is an Infinity. IN-USB-2. There is also a sticker on the back that says ver. 14.

The controller only shows up when its plugged in. I never downloaded anything to install it. I just plugged it in the first time and it worked. The same with the foot pedal, I believe. There is a Cd for my classes that I had installed, which is what I use the pedal for. That is what I had to run in compatibility mode. The pedal doesn't even show up when plugged in, but works with the program. Just a little more info to help. I did unplug the two though.

Should I be testing anything while they are unplugged, or am I just waiting to see if the problem happens again?
Oh, and going back over your earlier post, it isn't a wireless xbox controller. It has a wire that plugs into the USB and is connected to the controller.

Interesting, I'd assumed that all of these devices were wireless.
Please remove the wired USB XBox controller then and see if it helps.

I'm not real worried about the pedal - as it doesn't seem to make itself known in the memory dumps.
But there is evidence of the USB XBox controller, so I'm more concerned about that (and because it's earlier version did have BSOD issues).

Then we just wait and see if you get further BSOD's.
If you do, then we'll analyze the memory dumps and see what they have to say.

OK. If it does turn out to be the controller, is there any others that you recommend using? And I will let you know if anything happens while the controller is removed.

No recommendations, I'm a confirmed keyboard player and leave the XBox stuff to my kids.
Disconnect it and see what happens - it may not even be the cause.

I'd like to see a memory dump from the system with the XBox controller disconnected - as this will tell us if the driver is present during the memory dumps. If it's not there, then that makes it less likely that the USB controller is to blame.

Ok, well it did happen again today, but my son got up early this morning and decided to plug in the controller so should I just keep it off again ( I will make sure this time) and wait and see what happens, or do you need me to upload anything else. Do we need to start over? It shuts down when a game is on and paused and the computer goes into sleep mode. When I wake it and start up the game is when the bsod happens. I changed when the computer goes into sleep mode so that won't happen again, just in case. Just a little more info, maybe it will help. Let me know if we need to start over or if I can just continue to wait for another instance without the controller. Thanks.

No need to start over. Continue to wait and see.
Actually, this event may have helped to confirm it's the controller (or it's drivers).
