Hello all, I have been getting BSODs on my computer for a couple months now. It's more frequent as of late, can you please assist. Dump is attached

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    Windows 8 Pro and Android
Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Only 1 Windows Update installed. Most systems have 80 - 100 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Out of 24 memory dumps there were 9 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

HotSpot Shield is known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems. Please uninstall it.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Thank you for the quick response and analysis .

Hotspot shield was uninstalled last week. I don’t have any extra programs installed that I don’t use. So I’m not sure how to uninstall these drivers if they aren’t attached to a program. Do you mean to find them in device manager and uninstall them from there? I’ll update what I can first and we can go from there.

All updates have been installed and computer has been set up for auto updates
No BIOS update exists and the HP site doesn’t have any newer drivers since 2010

Still looking like low-level drivers or hardware.
We're working our way through the drivers.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

I've suggested this as there's a number of 3rd party drivers that will be difficult to do without - so let's see if Driver Verifier can point something out for us.

    Other Info
    I'm handsome and a snappy dresser :0)
Thanks for the download links. Hopefully I'll get time soon to add them to the Driver Reference Table.

The memory dumps that you uploaded (up to the 9th of October) show that the drivers date from 2009.
OSDACPI.SYS is a Win7 driver, and while it might work I'm suspicious of it merely because of it's age (I extracted the package (which is dated from 2013) and the OSDACPI.sys driver does date from 2009. Did you run the installer in compatibility mode for Win7?
NWTransLib.sys and NW1950.sys the downloaded package contains 1 driver - NW1900.sys dated from 2013. The other drivers aren't in the package. We may have to remove these manually - but let's see what happens with the system first.
HECIx64.sys is normally difficult to find for Win8 - Good job! This should have updated when you installed it (I think the second link is the latest version) - yet it doesn't show in the memory dumps.
AVerAVF2.sys again HP only provides Win7 and earlier drivers. But the info on the package states it's for the Avermedia A323 and H323 TV Tuner - a clue for what to look for at the AVerMedia site. The AVerMedia site here: AVerMedia AVerTV Global - TV Tuners, Live IPTV Streaming Encoder, Video Capture Card, Media Player and Multimedia Products - DVB-T series doesn't show drivers, but looking a bit deeper I found Vista drivers that may be for it.
FintekCIR.sys, tap0901.sys, and Rt630x64.sys don't appear in these memory dumps so I didn't check them.

So, I guess the question is...When did you update these drivers - in particular the Intel Management Engine? If it was after the last memory dump (Wed Oct 9 12:22), then we wait to see if the BSOD's have stopped.
If it was before this, then we've got to troubleshoot some more (or wonder if there are system incompatibilities with Win8 that can't be fixed).

    Antivirus
    Windows Defender and Windows Firewall
    Other Info
    I'm handsome and a snappy dresser :0)
BTW - Out of 7 memory dumps there were 6 different BSOD error codes.
- compatibility issues (either hardware or drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics
