Blue Screens and feature problems

Hello everyone,

I've recently installed Windows 8.1 - the issues were still present on the original Windows 8 OS I had, and I thought that they would be fixed by updating - (I had the OS before, but had to flash back to Windows XP because of the problems I'm about to describe). I randomly get CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT errors, DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK (or something along the lines of that).

I've ruled out that the cause can't be one concerning the hardware since Windows XP (x86) runs perfectly fine on it and so did the Consumer & Release Preview of Windows 8 too, which is weird, I guess.

I've tried to look through BlueScreenView what was causing the crashes, and the errors are always different. I'm going to include the most dump files I can!

What I've done to try and fix it:

A) Checked the hard drive for errors. Result: None.
B) Tried Defragmenting it. Result: Still has BSODs randomly.
C) Updated my graphic card's driver (NVIDIA). Result: Nothing changed.
D) Downloaded and applied all the Windows Updates. Result: Still getting BSODs.

Note: I read somewhere that updating my BIOS would help, but sadly the latest BIOS update is from 2010, and is for Windows 7 x86/x64. The link: M2N-E - Motherboards - ASUS

Also, about the feature problems I mentioned in the title. I can't run half the programs I download because they require Net Framework 2.0 or 3.5. I've tried downloading a copy on Microsoft's site, but it said that it didn't need it because I already had a higher version installed on my computer.

I also tried to install it via the command prompt (as an Admin), but it got stucked at 99.8%.

My Computer specifications are in a text file, that I got by doing ''Save as txt'' on CPU-Z. I'll upload it here. Same goes for the dumps.

Thanks a lot!

A quick update:

Since I've posted this thread, my computer has crashed two times to a BSOD.

The minidumps are included in the post.

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Windows 8 (and 8.1) interfaces differently with your hardware than does XP. It also uses different features of the hardware than does XP - so hardware problems are still possible. But, IMO, it's not as likely as it would be if there were errors in all installations.

When you get differing errors, it's usually (you'll see this again in a couple of paragraphs):
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers or hardware compatibility)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

I notice a lot of problems (in Win8/8.1) with systems that have BIOS's that date from 2011 or earlier. Win8/8.1 is much more involved in the BIOS than were previous OS's. This may mean that the system isn't fully compatible with Win8/8.1

The issues with .NET framework concern me - I haven't seen significant issues (at work or in the BSOD community) with it since Win8 came out.

Out of 10 memory dumps there were 6 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :
