Hi there,

My windows 8 notebook crashes several times and I have this error displayed on start up:

C:\Windows\minidump\090613-26875-01.dmp
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-125015-0.sysdata.xml
C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

I have read a few things about it but none of them convinced me since once of them says it is my avast antivirus wich I always used and another that could be my graphics driver, witch is up to date also...

Thanks in advance to anyone who answer!

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disc-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

I would also update your nVidia video drivers as they are blamed in the memory dumps. To do this, please:
- download a fresh copy of hte video drivers from the Acer website
- uninstall the current video drivers from your system.
- install the freshly downloaded video drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

Make sure that you use the laptop on a hard surface and, if possible, also use a cooling pad. Blow the vents out with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or a vacuum - it can damage the components inside the case).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Now, I'll update the other drivers just in case!

One question, there is a few "fingerprint biometrics" drivers, but my laptop does not has a fingerprint reader, should I uninstall them?

Sorry for the late answer and thank you very mucho for your help!

I've never seen these drivers installed on a system that didn't need them.
Another search showed that this was the EgisTec PrivateSafe Driver
You have an EgisTec folder in your Start Menu - what happens when you type EgisTec at the start screen? What shows in the Uninstall a Program section of Control Panel...Programs (or Programs and Features)?

It appears linked to a program called "Shredder" or maybe even with MyWinLocker

Typing Egis at the start shows me MyWinLocker. I also have the program Shredder, wich is in the folder Egistec with MyWinLocker.
Should I update them or uninstall them?
