Computer BSOD at night on occasion...

Hi, I'm new here, so I believe I am in the correct section but should I not be please forgive me. (backstory) I have a windows 8 pro pc, upgraded from windows 7 professional student edition (two year key for both, actually). I loved windows 7, and to be honest I love windows 8 as well but I am having an issue with random blue screens at night from time to time. When I started to upgrade from windows 7, I had a bit of trouble as after I had rebooted once installed, as required I went through a cycle of "booting windows" continuously so I refreshed the install from my install cd, if I remember correctly and have had a great experience except for one problem. (problem) At times, my computer will blue screen from time to time as I sleep, it doesn't happen ALL of the time, but it does in fact get to a state of annoyance (truecrypt), and I just want to correct this. I went into event viewer, and saw a "critical" error message, turning out to be the reason that the computer shut down. I've included this error in my zip https://w3tlsn.tonidoid.com/urlxtksub (the file is larger than that permitted on this server, at 84.4 MB I can upload it to another location, should it be requested) as well as the results of my "sfc /scan now" files that are unable to be repaired. Thank you very much for looking into this, I'm not as experienced in log viewing as I probably should be. W3TLSN (Andrew)

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

These devices are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?:
Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) BTH\MS_BTHPAN\7&1A577D38&0&2 This device is disabled.
Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_30A1168C&REV_01\4&12A83117&0&0020 This device is disabled.
Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [S] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/S] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Way too many Windows Updates - was this an upgrade install? I'm not that familiar with the update sequence in your locale - do other systems have 295 updates in Win8 Pro? (usual is 80 to 100)
Also, the sfc.exe logfile shows a number of errors with drivers that can't be repaired.

Out of 4 memory dumps there were 4 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
    - borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
    - BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
    - overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
    - compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
    - low-level driver problems
    - or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Nomally I suggest hardware diagnostics after trying all of the above things (if the BSOD's still occur). But in this case I'm concerned about the integrity of your Windows installation. I'd suggest the next step to be a backup, wipe, and clean install of Windows. Instructions are here: Canned Speeches - Backup/Wipe/Clean Install

Hello, and thank you for getting back to me on this. I'll try to get at this a section at a time, if that is alright.

First of all, the two disabled devices are disabled because I have no active blue tooth devices connected to my pc at this time. As for the wireless, I do believe the card is defective, as I am not able to connect to any wireless SSID's at this time, so I disabled it and am connected over power line networking.

I've un-installed Daemon Tools as requested, and have also un-installed peer block as there does not seem to be any active development on that project. I also ran the program provided to completely remove the .sys file mentioned for Daemon Tools.

I am not over clocking my system, it's not in need of that. I have 1 broken device, at least I believe it is broken and that is my wireless card. The bios I am currently utilizing is the latest to be released, but it was a beta bios, it updated the CPU AGESA code. I am running Malware bytes, as well as kaspersky so I am not thinking it could be malware, but it's possible. As you can see, the bsod's until recently were about once a month. now, it's picked up a bit to two or three in a month if memory serves my correctly, but it's also possible the computer restarted for an update.

The computer is an upgrade install from windows 7 pro, as I stated before I had to completely refresh the system and pretty much lost everything installed. The iso I was provided from microsoft (school) was only an upgrade image, and not a full install disk. I can't very much do anything without buying a whole new disk, or re-installing a shadow copy if I can find one, running windows 8 on a SSD, i most likely disabled the service.

I guess I will look for the updated drivers, and see how that goes. I wanted to make sure that it was an issue with drivers (sfc /scan now) and not something more critical.

Thank you very much for looking at this, makes me feel a bit better lol.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

If you believe that the wireless card is broken, please uninstall it's software and then physically remove it from your system.
Disabled devices can load drivers during startup, and then the device becomes disabled - so the drivers are still a possible source of problems. Also, if the device has hardware problems, disabling it may not keep the system from sending signals to it - and they may be corrupted/distorted by the broken hardware. Please physically remove it from the system.

There are ways to install an upgrade disk as a full install. One method was to install Win8 without entering a Product Key and then install it again (and then add the Product Key). Here's a link to a search for that type of installation: https://www.google.com/search?q=wind...ficial&spell=1
