Hi Everyone !!

I have a problem with my pc for about 4 days... When I try to boot it, it is trying to load windows since it appears the windows 8 icon but after that, it always says that it wasn't able to boot windows and it needs to restart the computer (this is a picture that i found that is similar to mine, the only difference is that the problem isn't exactly that, I already mentioned it : screen ) After one or two reboots, it appears a "troubleshoot" page but I tried "restore point" and booting with safe mode but nothing !!! I also tried some other things that I read online but I cant solve this problem...

What do you suggest me to do ?

Have you tried a Refresh or Reset?
Do you have the recovery disks/drive for your system?

Please start by trying these bootable diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
If you have trouble booting to a CD/USB drive, please post back with the make and model of your system.
That way we can get instructions on how to disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy Mode.

I don't have tried Refresh or Reset because I don't want to lose programms or files and this would be my last choice...
Also, I don't have a recovery disk or drive.

Now, I will try to boot the Initial Hardware Diagnostics...

Thank you for your answer, I will post later the results !

It actually takes a lot of time...

I am doing the RAM test right now with Memtest86 v4.20 and it is at 57% Pass right now with 0 pass and 0 errors within 50 minutes...

The RAM test completed successfully ! 1 pass, 0 errors...

Now I will try to boot the hard drive disk test...

I have a western digital hard drive and I run SeaTools for DOS but it told me that no hard drives found !!

What can I do ?

RAM test should run for at least 3 passes - but it's most likely that it's not a RAM problem, so don't worry about that for now.

Can you change the BIOS/UEFI from SATA to AHCI mode? What are the choices that the BIOS offers for this (may also say Legacy or IDE/PATA)?

Try the Ultimate Boot CD: Ultimate Boot CD - Overview
Try several of the HDD diagnostics on the disk

If none can detect the HDD, then I'd suggest trying another hard drive (to see if it's detected).
If you don't have a spare hard drive, then I'd suggest purchasing one from a shop where you can get your money back if you return the drive. Run a quick test to see if it's detected by the SeaTools.

If it is, then the old hard drive is likely bad.
If it's not, then you'll have to figure out how to switch the BIOS/UEFI around to let it recognize the test.

Do you mean to change the SATA Operation Mode ? It already is AHCI and the options that it offers me are IDE, RAID, AHCI...
Also as the 1st Drive names the AHCI : WDC WD1002FAE

Now I will try the UBCD's HDD tests...

The only test that I could run was GWSCAN 5.12 and I did a quick scan because I was worried of losing files with a full scan as it told me that it was important to have a backup before doing the full scan..

Quick scan was successfully completed with no errors in about 3 minutes.. What can I do now ?

Should I try "refresh" from the troubleshooting menu and if it doesn't fix anything should I do a format and re-installing windows 8 ?

While I'm not familiar with the GWSCAN software - it appears that it's a standard diagnostic that Gateway uses.
Often the quick scan won't show errors - even if the drive is failing (I've actually chased a customer or 2 into the parking lot when their systems passed the quick test and failed the long test of SeaTools).

Try the IDE in SATA operation mode - but only for booting from the CD/DVD for the Seatools hard drive test
Once the test is finished (if it runs) then IMMEDIATELY switch it back to AHCI.
DON'T try to boot into Windows unless you're in AHCI mode.

As you can access the disk with the UBCD, I'd strongly suggest doing a backup now.
- if the drive is failing, then you'll have already saved what you need
- if you have to reinstall Windows (which is a good possibility at this point), then you'l also have already saved what you need.

Good luck!
