Built my dream machine, but it BSODs with WHEA errors

I've spent two days trying to fix this myself, and I'm feeling quite deflated and desperate at this point. Please help me if you can.

I worked towards being able to build this brand new, incredible PC for the last year, and as far as I can tell all the hardware is living up to my expectations. However, I keep experiencing WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSODs. Typically they seem to happen while watching a video on one screen and editing photos or web browsing on the other, but I have experienced them at other times as well. I thought it was due to a new Intel ethernet driver not being compatible with Windows 8 and that I had the problem licked after a third clean install and careful process of driver updates, but it just happened again.

I've stress tested and monitored temps on my CPU. Samsung Magician says the SSD running my OS is in good health (it's an 840 Pro and should be very reliable). The Windows memory diagnostic tool gave my RAM a pass. I put my graphics card through all the 3DMark tests. My gut says this isn't hardware, but maybe that's wishful thinking. I used a program called BlueScreenView to look at the minidumps, and it indicates that the problem is hal.dll and possibly ntoskrnl.exe, but from what I understand that is a very vague clue.

I don't know what else I can do to try to resolve this problem and finally begin to enjoy this hard-earned PC. Please help. If I've failed to adhere to forum standards or attached the files properly, I will correct immediately if you let me know. Thanks in advance for anything you can do.

Edit: My current thinking is that GIMP might be the culprit. Is that possible? I'm going to avoid using that program and see if it happens again.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

ntoskrnl.exe is the kernel (core) of the operating system. If it was having problems you'd have many more issues other than just the occasional BSOD.

hal.dll is the file that enables the devices to communicate with Windows - so again, if it was a problem with this file you'd have many more issues other than the occasional BSOD.

The STOP 0x124 error is most often a hardware error - but it can also be caused by low level drivers/compatibility issues.

You have 3 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

This device has issues in Device Manager:
BLUE USB Audio 2.0 USB\VID_074D&PID_0002\0000 This device cannot start.
Please uninstall it and physically remove it from your system to see if that stops the BSOD's. Also, please note that your audio drivers date from 2008 (and it appears that you've updated them recently). Once the testing is done, feel free to attempt to install the latest, Win8 compatible drivers for this device - but please be advised that I've seen previous issues with these drivers (and Creative said to another poster that they were Win8 compatible, and that I've also seen lot's of issues with USB sound devices.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there. (I have seen issues in the past with the Windows Memory Diagnostic and don't recommend it's use - please try the MemTest86+ program in the link)
