DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE when waking from sleep

Greetings. I've lately been getting a number of BSOD pop-ups when waking my computer from sleep or hibernation. Though it has happened occasionally in the past, I've noticed an increase since installing a new Blu-Ray drive.

I am able to recreate the BSOD just by putting the computer to sleep, then waking it. After restarting from the BSOD, it takes several minutes for the computer to leave the bios and boot into Windows. The Blu-Ray drive also acts as though it has no power going to it (no lights, won't open).

If I disconnect the drive from the SATA port on the motherboard, my computer is able to wake from sleep normally.
I've checked the manufacturer's website for any help, but haven't had any luck. I'm not really sure it's so much a hardware problem, since the drive boots regularly until waking from sleep or hibernation, though, I am prepared to get a replacement/refund if it comes to it.

It appears that you've solved the problem. As long as you installed the Blu-Ray drive according to the manufacturer's instructions - there shouldn't be any problems of this sort that you can definitely pin on the Blu-Ray drive. Things don't have to fail completely in order to be broken. Failure of an individual component inside of the drive may cause just this sort of error.

Although it'll be a pain, obtain an RMA for the drive and send it back for another one. It won't hurt to do this, and it should help when you replace the drive.

Beyond that, here's the BSOD analysis.......

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Interestingly, the Blu-Ray drive doesn't show in the MSINFO32 report. Was it disconnected when you generated the reports?

This device has problems in Device Manager:

WAN Miniport (Network Monitor) #2 ROOT\MS_NDISWANBH\0001 This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.

Right click on it and select "Uninstall". DO NOT delete the driver software (if asked). Reboot the system and check to see if the problem is gone.

Lot's of Live Kernel Events in the WER Section of MSINFO32. If these are of the Event ID 41 type, they may point to hardware problems (which could be from the Blu-Ray drive). Event ID 41 is Windows saying it doesn't know why it crashed, but that it crashed and there won't be a record of the crash (may not even have had a BSOD).

The memory dumps seem to involve the storage controller drivers. This includes the drivers for the Blu-Ray drive, so it's still likely to be the problem.

BUT!!! You have the 2005 version of ASACPI.sys which is a known cause of BSOD's in Windows systems. You must update to the latest version (most likely the 2009 version, but there are versions that date as late as 2012). The 2009 version is most likely due to the age of your motherboard. If you're unable to locate the appropriate update for this driver, please provide the exact make and model of your motherboard so we can research it.

You also have Daemon Tools - here's my canned speech on this (and it too can impact on the Blu-Ray drive through the storage controller drivers):

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): ~~[DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL]~~ Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012

You also have outdated drivers for a NetGear wireless USB networking device (but the device isn't listed in the systeminfo.txt report - maybe it's been removed from the system?). These can cause BSOD's on Windows systems also. Here's my canned speech on them:

I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win 7/8 - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

You also have a number of other outdated drivers on the system. Update these (or uninstall the programs that they belong to) to see if that helps with the BSOD's. They're listed below....
