I have got a HP laptop which has windows 8 installed on it. On july 14th, I refreshed my laptop by going to change PC settings->General->Refresh your PC without affecting your files... But on 4th and 5th august,, it gave bsod.. I am attaching the dumps for the same. Could you please tell me what causes the bsods??

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

The 2 memory dumps blame your network drivers (Rt630x64.sys). As you've already updated the network drivers (it shows that you did this between the 2 crashes), this error must be coming from somewhere else. But it will be from a program that is "network aware" or "internet capable"

I would suggest that you ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates.
Beyond that, without the reports, I can't even venture a guess.
In order to help figure this out, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

There is also a possibility that there is a hardware problem (I infer this due to the presence of hal.dll in the raw stack text). But as it only shows up in the older memory dump, I have to wonder if this a good guess on my part. Do you connect to the web through the wired connection or a wireless connection. If the wireless, try disabling the wired connection in the laptop's BIOS/UEFI - and see if that stops the BSOD's.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I didn't notice anything definite in the reports.
But the only other significant "internet aware" app in the reports is your Norton.

Please try this:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free anti-virus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus If using Windows 8, enable Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall instead (after removing Norton).
- un-install the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080710133834EN
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free anti-virus (if using Win8, enable Windows Defender), then check to ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned on.
- perform a full system scan to ensure that no malware has snuck onto your system while the anti-virus was malfunctioning.
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.
Then monitor for further BSOD's.

Good luck!
