Hi i am repeatedly getting the bsod with the message: driver irql not less or equal e22w8x64.sys. I was hoping someone could help me fix it.

Attached is the sf diagnostic tool file. I have also tried to attach one of the many minidump files but it is not letting me do it because it says i'm not administrator (but doesn't come up with a prompt to let me verify that i am an administrator).

I am not computer savvy at all sorry. Please let me know if i need to include anything else and ill try my best to find it.

Thanks

EDIT:
I have tried following the advice given to me by the poster below, but am still getting the bsod's. If i give another sf diagnostic tool file that is updated would someone be able to tell me what i haven't done from before properly or what to try further (named sf updated mt2222).

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

Device Manager has a problem with this device:
Radio Switch Device ACPI\KB9XRADIOBTN\5&27FF2DE4&0 Failure using the VxD loader.
I'm guessing that this is associated with your ENE IR device (InfraRed). It's listed as "Radio Switch" on this page: MSI Global ? Notebook & Tablet - GE70 0NC

Please uninstall the device in Device Manager (right click on it). Then download and install the "Radio Switch" program for your model.

The memory dumps blame e22w8x64.sys - a driver for your Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30) Please:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8 compatible drivers from the manufacturer's website
- uninstall the current drivers
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's.

I've seen problems with Killer cards in the past. To definitively rule this out, disable the card in the BIOS and use wireless while waiting for another BSOD.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi
Thanks for the reply but i am still getting bsod's. I made an edit to the original post and if someone could help me further that would be great

My Computer

System One

  • OS
    windows 8
    Computer type
    Laptop
    System Manufacturer/Model
    msi ge70
The memory dumps still blame the Killer Ethernet card drivers.
Have you:
- updated the Ethernet drivers and tested for BSOD's
- disabled the card in the BIOS and tested for BSOD's
- tried using another network card (to rule out the possibility that the Killer card is bad) - using the wireless card while the wired card is disabled. Test for BSOD's in this scenario also.

Please update the audio drivers as suggested in the previous post.
Please remove the program that's associated with the NTIOLib_X64.sys driver.

In short, this is either a driver problem (with the Killer drivers) or it's a physical problem with the Killer network card.
While there are other possibilities, these 2 are by far the most likely. Regardless tho' - we must rule them out before being able to look for blame elsewhere.

Good luck!

I need help doing what was suggested to me in the previous reply

- updated the Ethernet drivers and tested for BSOD's
Does this mean clicking on all the carrona.org links at the bottom of the thread and downloading each one indivually?

- disabled the card in the BIOS and tested for BSOD's
When i go to the bios i can't find anywhere where the killer card is mentioned therefore do not know how to disable it.

- tried using another network card (to rule out the possibility that the Killer card is bad) - using the wireless card while the wired card is disabled. Test for BSOD's in this scenario also.
I also don't know how to use another network card

Please remove the program that's associated with the NTIOLib_X64.sys driver.

I don't know how to find out what program this file is associated with but when i type it in the search box it comes up with the two sf files that i submitted to help work out these problems

To check for Ethernet drivers - go to the PC manufacturer's website and download the latest, wired network drivers - and then install them.

To disable the card in the BIOS, you'll have to find something labelled Ethernet/LAN/Wired. I'd suggest posting in the hardware forums for help with this (NOTE: the last time I suggested this, my post was deleted and the user's post was moved from the hardware forums back to the current topic - NOT helping the user at all).

Link to the hardware forums: Drivers & Hardware - Windows 8 Forums

Using another network card - disable the wired/ethernet/lan card in the BIOS and only use the wireless card to connect to the internet. Do this long enough to be sure that another BSOD will not happen.

grathore07 Please start your own topic so that your issues can get the individual attention that they deserve.
Please include all the reports there.

While waiting for a reply, please replace your wireless networking drivers:
- download a fresh copy of the wireless networking drivers
- uninstall the current wireless drivers/program from your system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

I signed up for an account because have found these forums very useful and I just wanted to share this info and bump the thread as I found it still an issue on a mid-2015 new build.

Issue:
BSOD at unpredictable intervals, mainly when downloading large file systems.
Issue Target:
e22w8x64, Atheros / Rivet Networks Killer Ethernet e2200 on Mobo
Problem:
Compatibility issue with Windows 8 / 8.1 causing critical and fatal network instability
Fix:
Disable Windows quick start in control panel - Power Settings. You may need to check to change settings which cannot be changed (requires new boot to take effect) Restart.
Goto Killer Networks site. Killer Networking - Driver Downloads
Locate driver for e2200 (at time of writing this was labelled 'Standard Drivers (no killer features). Do not download Killer Network Performance Suite. Download Driver.
Then uninstall any Killer Network Performance suite / tools you may have installed (use MSConfig and Program Manager).
Disable any Qualcomm Atheros process and Rivet Network process.
Restart.
Open newly downloaded driver for e2200 (without killer management suite / tools)
Install Driver.
Restart.
Please ensure current drivers are taken from the Killer Site.

I found this combination of actions to work and have not experienced a BSOD since. Network performance is not affected.

I would encourage further discussion if you have a different experience to me. I'll keep an eye on thread updates.
