Random BSOD during file transfer.

I'm currently in the midst of doing a reformat on my Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 laptop and was copying over my library of Steam games from an external hard drive. It was taking a while so I closed the lid and just let it do its thing while I left and did something else. After I assumed it had finished I came back and opened the lid, only to be greeted with the log-in screen. When I logged in I got this prompt telling me that my PC had rebooted from a bugcheck. Turns out, there was a BSOD during the middle of my file transfer. I would be very grateful if someone could take a look at my attached dump files and tell me what the problem was. Also, if this is of any help, these were logged in Event Viewer and Action Center after what happened:

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!

Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

This device needs to be enabled and then updated:
PCI Simple Communications Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&SUBSYS_397717AA&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0 This device is disabled.
It's most likely your Intel(R) Management Engine Interface. Update it from the manufacturer's website, or from http://downloadcenter.intel.com

MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install it immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Memory dump blames iaStorA.sys - a driver for your Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST). Please update it from the manufacturer's website, or from http://downloadcenter.intel.com

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi John. Thanks for the reply!

I have installed all Important Windows Updates, but not the Recommended ones, so I will do that.

SanDisk has not released any firmware updates for the SSD I'm using, and I'm using a storage controller driver (Intel RST) from this year.

I purposely disabled the Intel Management Engine Interface controller in Device Manager and didn't install the driver because this is my personal machine so I don't use Intel vPro remote access technology.

I have uninstalled MSI Afterburner and reset my GPU overclock in the meantime while I get this sorted out.

As far as Intel Rapid Storage Technology is concerned, what's interesting is that the newest version listed on the Intel Download Center (12.5.0.1066) is actually older than what I currently have (12.6.0.1033). I think what happened is Intel took down 12.6.0.1033 from their website for whatever reason. I'm going to have to pass on the 12.5.0.1066 driver as well because there is a known bug in this version which causes TRIM commands not to pass through the controller to the drives, so TRIM is disabled using this driver. So it looks like I will have to get an older version of RST.

I will do these things and report back after a while. Thanks again!

Just an update, Intel recently released a new version of RST and I updated. Have been BSOD-free for about a week. Hopefully this streak continues but I am optimistic so far. Thanks again for the help John!
