I am having problems with recurrent BSOD caused by error PFN List Corrupt. I have used Memtest86 showing no memory problems after 3 passes (10 hours). I am new to the site so I hope I am doing things correctly. I appreciate any help you can give me. I have attached the collected information. Thank you.

The reports aren't complete. Please rerun the data collection app and let it run for at least 15 minutes (or until the app itself tells you that it's done). Then zip it up and upload it.

The memory dumps aren't conclusive, but they tend to point at mvs91xx.sys - your Marvell Storage Controller drivers. Please update them from manufacturer's website. If there are no updates available, uninstall the current drivers and then install a freshly downloaded copy of the latest Win8 compatible drivers.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

BSOD - PFN_List corrupt error

USASMA, As instructed I installed Marvell Controller software and turned it on in the bios and it appears fine in device manager. I am not sure I need this software though because I do not have anything plugged into the Marvell slots on the MB and do not have a RAID array. I could not find driver updates for HMukstE.sys, tbwkern.sys so I uninstalled the Kensington software and drivers and these 2 files are no longer in the driver folder in SYS32. The system is more stable but I just had another BSOD with PFN_list corrupt error. I ran the diagnostics and have attached it. Thank you again for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

Even if you don't use a device, it's still present when the system boots. I wonder how that device will affect the system when it tries to interact with the system without drivers. If you can disable this device in the BIOS that would be the best thing if not using it.

I would suggest uninstalling Acronis to see if that helps.

Then, if the BSOD's continue, please try running Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Also, as time permits, start running these free diagnostics (in case this turns out to be a hardware problem): Hardware Diagnostics (start with the MemTest86+ test).

John, Again thank you for your help. I believe the problem was with the Kensington Trackball drivers (HMuKstE.sys, tbwkern.sys). Acronis did not seem to be a problem after several tests. I also ran Memtest86+ V4.2 for 7 passes and Prime95 8 hrs without errors. After removing the Kensington software Driver verifier does not cause BSOD.

I'm starting over fresh with this one - so there may be repeats from the previous posts.

Your BIOS dates from 2009. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

It's possible that this system may not be fully compatible with Win8. If so, you'll continue to have random, unexplained issues (as I've had in my Lenovo X61t notebook with the 2008 BIOS).

You have 4 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

19 BSOD's in July and August - but only 1 memory dump in the attached reports. If you're using a disk cleaning program, please stop while we're troubleshooting.

The 19 memory dumps show errors relating to your Marvell storage controllers and with your Acronis True Image drivers.
1) The Marvell controller must be updated to a version dating from July 2012 or later (earlier versions had problems with SSD's)
2) Uninstall the Acronis program (temporarily) and see if that helps (you can still run Acronis from a boot disk).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

BSODs 5-10 mins after waking from S3 sleep.

Again I want to thank you for your help. In response to the previous instructions my ASUS motherboard is new. The bios is updated and not 2009. The 2 SSD drives are Corsair and the firmware was updated previous to my previous post. I am not using the Marvell slots so I deleted the driver. I also completely removed Acronis 2013 and Nero 12. The removal of this software made a big difference and the system was very stable with no BSODs for 5 days.

Then I started getting them again about 5-10 mins after waking from S3 mode. This seems to be the only remaining problem. As an aside the Acronis boot disk made from the software does not see GPT disks so I downloaded the iso from the site and it does see the GPT disks. This may help someone with a similar problem. Both backup and restore work.

I am attaching the latest minidumps etc.
Thanks,
Ferg43

The 2009 thing was me misreading the date in the systeminfo.txt file - sorry!
Thanks for the info on Acronis boot disks! It will definitely help others!

The memory dumps are suggestive of a hardware problem, so I'd suggest these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

As we're not certain that it's hardware, I'd also suggest running Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Good luck!
