Black screen ( not blue ) after boot logo

@ Hopachi : That's what I was starting to think also, about the fact that it's a sort of mode or resolution that was bugged due to something. But I already tried taking off the Test mode to overclock the monitor, and i also changed monitor on top of that ( now using a 24" 1080p at default of 60 hz )

@ David : Thanks for sticking to my thread, it's very much appreciated by the way. So I CAN boot into BIOS, i did not try changing the boot order. I will try that, it might make some sense. Maybe bios locks the default boot drive or something ( although my 1st boot is CD drive ).

I also tried most options under the advanced troubleshoot. I'll retry all of them again after changing the boot priority.

i'll follow your link after all that is done. I'll let you guys know. In the meantime, if anything else comes to anyone's mind, feel free to share your thoughts

Ok I confirm that my 1st boot is CD drive, so not much to change there. Tried putting USB as 2nd boot. nothing different.
    Tried all options again
Automatic repair : Game me an error saying that it would log in srttrail.txt

Heres the start of that log file : Startup Repair diagnosis and repair log---------------------------
"Last successful boot time: ‎7/‎28/‎2013 10:35:35 PM (GMT)
    Number of repair attempts: 1

    Session details
    ---------------------------
    System Disk = \Device\Harddisk0
    Windows directory = D:\Windows
    AutoChk Run = 0
Number of root causes = 1

    Test Performed:
    ---------------------------
    Name: Check for updates
Result: Completed successfully. Error code = 0x0
    Time taken = 0 ms

    Test Performed:
    ---------------------------
    Name: System disk test
Result: Completed successfully. Error code = 0x0
    Time taken = 0 ms"

goes on like this for multiple entries. I find it weird that it says "D:\windows" though, as it's on my C... could that be the reason it failed ?

When i try to restore image : Says i dont have any restore points anymore.. sigh wtf ? i had several..

When i try a refresh : Says it couldnt because device is locked

Now i'm thinking about a clean install but... I really don't trust windows 8 anymore. I ended up liking it after a while, got used to it and was comfortable with the UI. but now.. with all this going on.. ugh... and I dont have a copy of windows 7 anymore

Try changing the #1 device to C:\ drive.

or get pissed & reinstall the system...

This has been a good learning experience.
A few reputation points for us all would not be a bad thing.
    I've already spread some around.

oh yes i already gave you rep points, dont you worry about that. If i could give you 100 i would

So changing the device #1 to C .... you mean where it's written Harddisk0 i should put it as C ?

    Now .. how do I perform that task .. ? I have a 1tb hdd (part D and E ) and a 250gb ssd (C : windows ). Do I just unplug the 1TB to make the SSD jump to disk #0 ?

    Yea.
    Put C as harddisk 0.
Start by highlighting the first in line & make it second.
Work your way down to C & make it first.

Since C was lost in the shuffle maybe it will boot as it should then.

So i chatted with Bob. I'm not under warranty anymore, so he could only hint me, even though he told me he was sure to be able to fix the issues ( for 100$ yeah O_O )

    First part, he said this

    Bob H:
    7:16:39 PM
I'm suspecting that the OS is trying to load the drivers for your video card, that's why it won't boot normally.

    You:
    7:17:38 PM
well, like i said, i was running on my Radeon 6950 since january, but since the failure 3 days ago, i called the graphics card company ( because i thought it was GPU related ) and they told me to RMA the GPU, which i did :/
    so now
i remembered i had an older card in my other computer
and tried with that card ( the geforce ), and it still doesnt work
even though i had never connected it

    Bob H:
    7:18:11 PM
Even though you use a different card, the OS still tries to load the driver file on your PC.

    You:
    7:18:16 PM
    oh
well, i tried to uninstall / delete the driver

    Bob H:
    7:18:25 PM
I'm referring to that certain .sys file for your 6950 card.

    You:
    7:18:32 PM
    okay
So lets say thats the problem. What do i do ?
i went into device manager, and uninstalled / deleted from there
( by the way, i'm still gonna need to figure out why my "device" is locked and cant perform any recovery methods on it )

    Bob H:
    7:21:37 PM
Uninstalling it should already work. But what happens when you tried to uninstall it?

    You:
    7:22:02 PM
    nothing.. it just.. uninstalled.
it wasnt showing in my "manage devices" anymore

    Bob H:
    7:23:38 PM
Since Windows has these multiple issues, the driver might still be on the bootup list.
I can definitely take care of this for you and even fix those problems with Windows.

BLAH BLAH BLAH something about warranty, wasnt covered, blah blah blah

    Bob H:
    7:39:34 PM
Going back to the issue, look for a way to completely disable the 6950 driver.
I already gave you that hint earlier.

    You:
    7:40:28 PM
    yes
thank you for that, i'll try to navigate myself to safe land from there

    Bob H:
    7:40:53 PM
It's a .sys file, usually has the letters ATI to indicate it's from radeon.
You can delete it or disable it from starting up using IT tools from Microsoft's technet site.
    I'm talking about this tool:
    Autoruns for Windows

    You:
    7:42:02 PM
    Thank you very much Bob

    Bob H:
    7:42:29 PM
But read the EULA, if anything goes wrong because if misuse, you're basically on your own. That tool has no warranty, use it with extreme caution.

    You:
    7:43:16 PM
I will. Any hint about the device locked ? I looked on microsoft forums and nothing led me to believe anyone had a fix for it
aside from the BCDedit command, which didn't work

    Bob H:
    7:43:53 PM
    Do you have bitlocker enabled?

    You:
    7:43:56 PM
    nope.

    Bob H:
    7:45:13 PM
You'll have to post a thread at the free forums. I'm suspecting it's permissions related.

**Windows entries are hidden. Lots more show up if I unfilter those

    UPDATE :

So i completely ran CCleaner to delete AMD catalyst control center, and all system/temp/whatever files that needed to be deleted.

I ran DriverFusion also, to wipe all remaining driver files on the computer for AMD/radeon.

    Still, nothing works.
